Do liberals want to chill speech: the attempted silencing of Shapiro

No.

Again - the only way to intimidate is physically?

Teaching you connies is slow-going. I'm going to keep at it, though. I haven't given up hope on you.

No = but teaching libtards is slow-going. I'm going to keep at though, I haven't given up hope on you, even though your myopic. :D

The world was black & white when you connies didn't want to hear anything aside from the Iraq War being a great decision.

Didn't work out so well for ya, did it?

AWWWWWW look, another libtard wants to move the goal posts; because they aren't winning with the topic at hand. LOL

Nope. But there is no doubt whatsoever that pro-war nuts tried to intimidate the Chicks to get them to shut up, which ended up keeping others in the artistic community from speaking out. Which is why the expression "Dixie Chicked" is so ingrained in the lexicon today.

It definitely chilled free speech. No doubt at all. Intimidation most certainly can take other forms aside from physical.

Thank you. At least you finally admit these two situations are not remotely the same.

If it actually chilled speech as you claim, people and the DC would have stopped talking anti war anti bush, but of course we both know the anti war crowd got larger after the DC incident. I seriously don't see how you can claim it was chilled when the anti war movement grew larger. In fact, DC's voice got bigger because before this, most of the world didn't know who they were.

Try harder.

LOL

Did you know that in the world of actual debate, repeating like that is seen as being pre-adolescent?

It's one of your better techniques on here, though. That and the "thumbs up" guy. Real show-stoppers.

Not wanting to hear something is the same as chilling speech?

I think it's laughable that you have no understanding whatsoever of what that incident & its aftermath did to the artistic community & entertainment industry, and to free speech.

People were afraid to speak out. The Dixie Chicks had courage, but even they broke a few times. That was intimidation in one of its most pure forms.

The fact that you think the situations are not "remotely the same" (your words - not mine) just shows how deep your partisan hackery runs. Your opinion is not to be taken seriously. Get your head out of the right-wing brainwashing.

When was it a debate, seeing as how all you wanted to do is throw out asinine comments and attempt to make inane comparisons; but if you want the exchange to become different, try growing up. :D

I'm grown up. You should stop projecting. What in the world do you do on JPP aside from the bolded?

You've said before that it had an affect on the "artistic community & Entertainment; but you continue to fail to provide support for your opinion.
Or are we just to accept your assertion as FACT, without anything else to go on??

How about providing a comment, from that time period, that shows people were afraid to speak out??

When you try to shut someone up through economic intimidation (not to mention the death threats)?

Hell yeah.

You seem extraordinarily clueless.

Like the economic intimidation that was used to force an owner of a Basketball team, to sell.
Or the intimidation that was used to FORCE a bakery to comply or close??

I'm sure there are other examples of liberal intimidation; but these two will do, for now.

There's no projecting on my part; but you sure seem to be pretending you're grown up.
You try to act like your above the fray, when in truth you're no cleaner then anyone else here; but you apparently will continue to deny the truth and continue to tell yourself how much better you are. LOL

LOL. Economic intimidation? So if someone says something I don't support, I should still buy their records and tell others to do so as well?

Death threats. Please. Both sides have their fringe elements, stop being dumb. You're the one who is clueless.

Here, there was an actual attempt to stop speech, no one tried to stop them from speaking, rather, they were merely speaking back saying: hey, if you're going to say something that we don't agree with, we don't want your music, won't buy it, won't play it. Free speech is a two way street.

I was totally against the boycott of that bakery.

The b-ball owner made racist comments, and a basketball team is a private enterprise. He was pressured by other owners to sell, to maintain the image of the NBA - a private organization whose reputation they have a right to protect. No equivalency there, at all - as I said before, a total strawman.

So the record company that the DC were under contract to, wasn't a private enterprise??
DAMN, that's a surprise.

Who said anything about the record company?

Is that all you can do - move goalposts? I said nothing at all about the record company.

Are you suggesting that there was no negative affect on the Record Company??

Didn't liberals try to shut down Chick-A-Filets; but then I guess that doesn't count, seeing as how liberals walked away with "egg" on their face.
<comparison deliberate>

Came back to add:
Hobby Lobby
Waffle House
Cracker Barrel

So what was your complaint about the treatment of the DC, again??

Of course there was a negative effect on the record company. You're arguing a completely different thing from your bogus basketball team analogy.

It's actually sort of amazing.
