no one has said that either side is immune from these tactics... especially in the rough and tumble primary battle. The problem, from the GOP's perspective, is that their version of dog-whistle politics enflames the right side of the bell-curve... the far ramparts of their base.... but Hillary will never get those votes anyway and she, quite frankly, gives a shit about them. When candidates from the left use it, it may, temporarily alienate some of their base, while gathering in some from the center right of the bell curve... those temporarily disenchanted leftists will still come home to the democratic party in the end because they really have no one else to vote for. We keep our fringes, just like the right does, but we eat into the middle with our more subtle dog whistle, while the right only further alienates the middle the louder thy blow their whistle. Funny, eh?
So you laugh when Democrats employ their "more subtle dog whistle" and pretend to be outraged when Republicans employ the same tactic, Commander?

To hear Gov. Jerry Brown tell it, California is in a "mega drought" — perhaps the worst dry spell it's ever known.
So why does he keep calling for voluntary water conservation?
Even if the drought goes away relatively quickly — and is not, as Brown suggested, a mega drought — Californians must learn to live with less water anyway to deal with a structural water deficit that is unrelated to short-term weather patterns, one that leaves the state with too little water even in normal years to satisfy the desires of agriculture, residents, business and the environment.
