Before his Death, Father of ADHD Admitted it Was a Fictitious Disease

I have A.D.D. I got diagnosed in high school but didn't take medication until my senior year in college. It does seem like they put every hyper kid on medication these days.

I've never tried Ritalin. I took Aderall for a week and had a horrible reaction to it.

Big Pharma is laughing all the way to the bank.

I made a mistake, they are different chemical compounds. Happy now fuckweasel?

You don't know what you are talking about, which is no crime, but you are easily duped and then get up on your soapbox to push nonsense. Again, the Church of Scientology (CCHRI) is the source for much of your article. But maybe you are a member.

...native German speakers have reported that Dr. Eisenberg wasn't asserting that ADHD isn't a real disorder, but rather that it is overdiagnosed.

He's also not really the "father" of ADHD.

It may be overdiagnosed but the Scientologist are like many wackos, they take some small bit of fact and then take it to extremes and end with something purely insane.

Seriously you need to fuck off, I can't be doing with your bullshit.

I am not going to get into a dick waving contest with you, go point it somewhere else!!

During my teaching career, and in between the mounds of paperwork which, of course, takes priority, I’ve managed to teach thousands of young people. Quite a number of them were disruptive and argumentative, and some wereviolently opposed to learning, but I don’t think I’ve taught more than a handful of kids who could be described as having symptoms of ADHD. And that handful could just as easily have had something else wrong with them.

Because here’s the thing I’m going to dare suggest; ADHD doesn’t exist.

There’s no conclusive medical test for it, experts can’t agree on it and most of its symptoms disappear if the child in question has lots of exercise, good diet and, crucially, a set of clear behavioural boundaries, preferably set early in childhood, and just as importantly, for the boys at least, enforced by a stable adult male.
Studies tell me that boys suffer from ADHD more than girls. Well, boys need about six hours exercise a day just to feel normal. And I’m not talking about staying up ‘til four am playing Zombie Nazi on their PS3. How many of the ADHD sufferers in your class are getting hours of daily exercise?(Running away from detention doesn’t really count). How many of them eat real, unprocessed, food every day? How many get eight to ten hours quality sleep?

What they get instead is state-sanctioned approval to ruin their own and other children’s education.

Boys need to be taught how to behave; if you don’t show them, they will misbehave as though misbehaviour is normal, because for them, it is; without instruction to the contrary they will remain stuck in the Terrible Twos. Boys don’t know how to socialise themselves which is why, left to their own devices in a rule-free, judgement-free, adult-male free environment, a lot of boys turn to each other to form their own versions of a hierarchical and often very violent society.

Despite it being, at best, a somewhat nebulous condition, ADHD has become something that a parent can claim benefits for; there’s a hefty financial benefit for your child being diagnosed as having ADHD.The state provides a cash incentive for having a child who behaves like a nutter.

And there are rewards for the children too. They get one-to-one attention from kind, educated middle-class ladies who are very tolerant of their behaviour and talk to them in a very nice way. They get rewards just for behaving normally; a big bar of chocolate, or a ‘free’ session on the computer, or they get to run odd-jobs for the Deputy Head instead of having to sit in class and do work. It’s a very Pavlovian cycle of misbehaviour.
Having been labelled as ADHD, or ODD or whatever (and I’ll talk to you about ODD another time), it’s the equivalent to a Get Out of Jail Free card. We are required to cut them a lot of extra slack. And of course other children, behaving normally and working hard, doesn’t get any slack at all. In fact, if there’s an ADHD kid in your class, they won’t get much attention either.

So here’s my theory; ADHD doesn’t exist. It’s a con. It’s a career, for feckless parents and therwise-unemployable do-gooders.

Ok, there may be a genetic factor, in the sense that if mum is unable to control her children from the age of two, then young Carl or Connor or Liam will most likely be uncontrollable at fourteen. And if, from the age of two, they’ve learned to not listen, and not do what they’re told, and if they’ve learned that ‘kicking off’ gets them their own way, then that’s how they will behave at eleven, or thirteen, or fifteen.

And if you add in energy drinks, lack of physical exercise, 3am game-playing hyper-stimulation, the after-burner effects of hormones and a whole set of do-gooders telling them it’s not their fault, then…voila!

Cashback.

Oh, and in the light of the new equality study telling us what we already knew, that Chinese and Indian students do better than their white working class peers, I wonder what percentage of those over-achieving cultural groups suffer from ADHD? Not many, I’m guessing.

You really have turned into a nasty cunt, I shall just threadban you next time.

You are the one using all the nasty language. All I did was call into question your source. Your OP stretches the truth, which the snopes article indicates, and relied heavily on the Citizens Commission on Human Rights which is a front for the Church of Scientology.

It seems I hit a sore point and you are reacting as many Scientologists do when challenged. I am a nasty person for pointing out facts which justifies your vulgar ranting.

Fuck off!! No you are not a nasty person you are a nasty CUNT, get it right!!

This is the text from the Der Spiegel article about Dr. Eisenberg.

This is the English translation.

" ADHD is a prime example of a fabricated disease," Eisenberg said. " The genetic predisposition for ADHD is completely overrated. "

Fictitious or fabricated, so what the fuck is the difference?

As snopes (your source) pointed out, software translations are imperfect and context is important. It does appear he believed it was overdiagnosed. He's not really the father of ADHD and this was not said on his death bed either. Your source for the OP made it seem as if it were the dying confession of some villainous conspirator and relied on the Church of Scientology for much of their bogus information. You chose to use a source with credibility problems.

Again, I don't doubt it may be overdiagnosed. I guess, that won't satisfy the Church's mission, though.
