"If you want change, win an election!"

Jeb Bush continues to position himself as the Republican moderate statesman. Will he distance himself from his brother?

Will the Republicans nominate a third Bush?

His brother was a moderate Republican statesman. Why would he distance himself from that?

And no, the Republicans will not nominate him.

Unless the base just stays home like it did in 2012.

Why do you believe the "base" will do anything different this time?

The thought of Hildebeast of Benghazi profaning the office where her hubby once got blow jobs might just provide an incentive.

Maybe, but I think they hate President Obama more than they ever hated Bill or Hillary Clinton.

If the "Base" you talk about fails to show up over and over again, is it really a "base"?

the problem the GOP has is that there are now two bases and they have different agendas.

Its fun to watch them try to ride two horses at the same time. They end up with candidates like Romney. Next we get another Bush or a Christie, both can be easily beaten.

If there is no "base", what happens to your "teabagger", "moral majority" and "religious right" memes?

The problem with the conservative base of the GOP is that they always split themselves up in the primaries.

The moderate establishment comprises about a 30% of the party. They have the money, the organization, and the liberal media always pushes their candidate in the primaries. If you're a moderate Republican, Huntsman was every bit as good as Romney, but the establishment stood firm behind Romney. Wasn't even close.

The conservative base allows itself to be torn in 3 or 4 directions (i.e., Newt, Santorum, Perry), thereby allowing the establishment choice to squeeze through and claim the nomination. Happens every time.

It goes with the territory. Conservatives are very indepdendent-minded and opinionated. Until we allow ourselves a brief opportunity not to be so individualistic, and align ourselves behind one conservative candidate, we're doomed to be the party's base without any voice, other than just staying home.

When someone says, what you are talking about is not a "base".

It does not mean that the person is saying there is no base. Understand?

I cannot imagine anyone so shallow as to base their voting decisions on the effectiveness of one government website.
