I honestly don't know what they think- that if they say I'm in "thrall" to you or evince I'll suddenly see the "error of my ways" and become the docile follower of right-wing men?

Do they have any idea what their attitude is doing to BAC and others? If we carried on in gun threads like they carry on with this one, we'd be seeing a heckuva lot more anger than what BAC and others are showing here.

But I forgot - it's ok for white men to get angry at guns being "taken away" but not ok for black men to get angry as they see their young men getting killed and the killers walking free.

As you said, Darla - if they really think it was legal, why aren't they up in arms about changing the law?

And on this thread - why has it become all about whether or not they are racist or not, instead of about Till and Martin? They know this is an issue that is hitting home to a lot of us right now; that a lot of us feel that "walking while black" has just become a reason why someone can kill a young man. They don't like that we think their comments were racist? Why don't they show a little class and say "Hey, I understand you disagree, I see where you're coming from, and hopefully my future postings will show I'm not racist" and give it a rest?

Now, I suppose they could say the same for Desh and BAC (and Poet when he was on here). But you know, it would be nice if for once the white men gave in gracefully instead of women and minorities always being the ones pushed to give in to "make peace".

They just have to STOP POSTING. STOP COMPLAINING. Focus on the issues. They can be the ones to do it first. MAN UP you all. Focus on the issue. Stop all the crap. You might be pleasantly surprised by the reaction you get.

"But moooooommmmmmmmmm... she did it first" is all I'm hearing.

Evince, Darla, me, BAC - we aren't idiots. But we're tired of being disparaged and being told to "just get over it".

{shrug} There are a lot of posts here. yes, that jumped out at me. And since a lot of this crap started when you told everyone (basically) to just get over it, I thought you'd like to know comments like that one are ALSO condescending.

Great points. I guess you are in thrall to me, and I am in thrall to BAC. Neither you or I could have come up with our own opinions independently.

Gosh I wonder why that might be?

White guys who are racist are ALWAYS sexist. Good thing to keep in mind when traveling. If you hit any towns where they will tie a black male to the back of a car, they will gang rape you if you walk into the wrong bar. Another reason, other than empathy, that I don't get white women who are racist. Boy are you dumb is all I can think.
