Boston

It may be too soon for humor, but it's never too soon to be an ass. And here's the funny part, only one of these makes people smile. Why do we have to wait to be cheered up but rage is on demand?

My friend's mom is a nurse who worked at the finish line next to the bombing. This is the email he sent out to us.

My mom is a nurse practitioner and this was her 19th year working the finish line of the Boston Marathon. She is in the medical tent and she treats runners when they finish.

She was treating a woman who was already hysterical with cramps all over her body. She gave her an IV and my mom was trying to calm her down when she heard the first blast. She told me she knew it was a bomb right away. Others on TV have said they didn't know what it was but she was clear, it was a bomb. She said it felt like an earthquake and shook the ground.

The woman now was really freaking out and things were about to get crazy. My mom said the guy on the loudspeaker, who also has been working the event over a decade, didn't let his tone change one bit. He did a lot to keep people calm during the chaos.

The next job was to get the runners who could leave out and make room for the trauma patients. The good thing is it was like a virtual hospital right there at the site of the blast with all the emergency personnel.

She treated a guy who had shrapnel all through his legs, half the hair on his head burnt off and his jacket melted. She said the layers of clothing he wore probably saved his arm. Also had some sort of burns on his stomach and she had no idea how he got that through his clothes. As she treated him he was freaking out that he couldn't find his parents. My mom speculated that his mother may have passed because she fit the age of a woman she already knew had passed away.

While he was being treated all sorts of trauma cases were going by and she had to keep him calm and not looking at all the chaos around. It also helped her not to see everything that came by. But she did see many victims with missing limbs and one guy with simply no legs left. Also a woman who had passed was put in the tent near her.

She mentioned that the death toll was very conservative and she expects it to go up.

As patients were taken to area hospitals they started to clear the tent of non emergency volunteers and then the doctors and nurses. 8 of them stayed, including my mother, until everyone was moved out.

I got a quick call into her after the blast and she said she was OK but couldn't talk. We exchanged a couple of texts until tonight when she got to call and brief me on everything.

We used to go to the start of the marathon every year as a kid. We used to love to try and find random sweat pants (no idea why) when runners would shed them as the race started.

So proud of the work my mom does. I know any of the crisis management skills I have come from her.

Uhm.. I heard Liberals today blaming the Tea Party. By tomorrow, they will be blaming Rush Limbaugh and talk radio.

Don't talk to me about bad taste, Libbie!

All I said is we need bomb control legislation, I mean this should be obvious, right???

I've heard nothing of the sort. All I've heard is references to the Saudi kid.

You've reallt shown what a fuckwad you are.

Liar

WE NEED BOMB CONTROL LEGISLATION NOW!

Back ground checks for cell phones. However, it is a bit early to start politicizing this, let the uncouth left do that by trying to blame it on "Yet another Patriot Day attack from a rightwinger"...

It is way too early to know who did this, why, and to use that to make political points.

Bull, on this site leftists were already blaming it on "rightwingers" because of some past events on Patriot Day.

Please. Who on this site - one poster? I watched cable shows all over the place last night, and listened to all kinds of radio today - and no talk of the "Tea Party."

Dixie was lying, and you know it. Don't be a Dixie apologist.

*sigh*

The right-wing extremist theory was strengthened by fact April 15 is tax day, an event that in recent years has been used as a rallying date for members of the Tea Party group.

The Tea Party movement is, of course, named after the famous Boston Tea Party political protest of 1773 and, with President Obama’s taxation policies widely criticised by many conservative groups – both moderate and extreme - the date is increasingly seen as a focal point for right-wing protest.

http://www.wnd.com/2013/04/cnn-right-wing-extremists-to-blame-for-explosions/

Within hours of the bombings in Boston that left at least three dead and more than 100 injured, left-leaning analysts in the media started the speculation that the bomber was “right-wing.”

It follows years of warnings already from the Obama administration that those who oppose abortion are potential terrorists and the military needs to beware of evangelical Christians.

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journa...Right-Wing-Extremists-Could-Be-Behind-Bombing

Less than two hours after the horrific bombing at the Boston Marathon, CNN national security analyst Peter Bergen was already speculating that "right-wing extremists" could be behind the attack. He told CNN anchor Jake Tapper:
I'm reminded of Oklahoma City, which was a bombing, which was initially treated as a gas explosion. First reports are often erroneous.

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/201...explosions-already-being-blamed-on-the-right/

Before any information was available that might indicate who is responsible for the horrific Boston Marathon bombings, Esquire’s Charles P. Pierce cautioned readers against “jumping to conclusions” and blaming the attack on “foreign terrorism.”

However, he was compelled to remind people that Monday is the “official Patriots Day holiday” in Massachusetts, celebrating the Battles at Lexington and Concord. He also pointed out that April 19, the actual date of the battles, is connected to Oklahoma City bomber Tim McVeigh, who apparently considered himself a “waterer of the tree of liberty and the like,” according to Pierce.

“I’ll bet good money it’s a right-wing nutjob. Today is April 15, Boston Harbor was where the original Tea Party took place and the on-going gun-safety legislation makes it the mostly likely culprit,” commenter Linda Ginsburg wrote.

BAD TASTE?

So, you saw it too, but then dismiss it because it wasn't enough of them to make you think that some people on the left are asses?

You got Wolf Blitzer stressing how Patriots' Day "may be a factor"... You got Charles Pierce of Esquire pointing out that because of tax day, etc. that they shouldn't blame foreign terrorism because Tim McVeigh thought he was watering the tree of liberty.

But hey, when you were watching the news you didn't "see" it so it can't exist.

Well, look, if this happened on Sept 11th 2012, everyone would take note of that and figure, hmmm. Same thing with tax day. I mean, it's an obvious point and I think we all thought of it. Doesn't mean it was that, but to notice it is as obvious as breathing.

I just know Dixie, and so do you. This is a poster who has cited Congressional stump speeches that he has "lying around" when he can't find anything on line to back up a lie.

Dixie is a pathological liar, and has been since the days of politics.com, and you know this. He can justify his hate with anything, and does. His comments on this thread deserve nothing but scorn & suspicion - he has earned nothing more than that.

Especially since I had to mail my taxes in yesterday which meant writing a substantial check, which made me think of all of the right wing welfare queens like Bravo sitting around bitching on the internet snickering to themselves "send the bill to Darla". So you know, the date was on my mind.

I am stealing this from a friend... whose other friend posted this on fb...

I remember, when 9/11 went down, my reaction was, "Well, I've had it with humanity."

But I was wrong. I don't know what's going to be revealed to be behind all of this mayhem. One human insect or a poisonous mass of broken sociopaths.

But here's what I DO know. If it's one person or a HUNDRED people, that number is not even a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent of the population on this planet. You watch the videos of the carnage and there are people running TOWARDS the destruction to help out. (Thanks FAKE Gallery founder and owner Paul Kozlowski for pointing this out to me). This is a giant planet and we're lucky to live on it but there are prices and penalties incurred for the daily miracle of existence. One of them is, every once in awhile, the wiring of a tiny sliver of the species gets snarled and they're pointed towards darkness.

But the vast majority stands against that darkness and, like white blood cells attacking a virus, they dilute and weaken and eventually wash away the evil doers and, more importantly, the damage they wreak. This is beyond religion or creed or nation. We would not be here if humanity were inherently evil. We'd have eaten ourselves alive long ago.

So when you spot violence, or bigotry, or intolerance or fear or just garden-variety misogyny, hatred or ignorance, just look it in the eye and think, "The good outnumber you, and we always will."

They are also posting a picture of Mr. Rogers and the sentiment is look for the helprs!

This is what I am doing, mourning the loss of life and limb, but I am looking for the brave helpers! Those who served other in the time of need.

Fuck those who did this. They do not deserve publicity. They to deserve to be found and prosecuted for their crimes, but all this speculating and worse turning on one another is just what they want. All the negativity feeds them and we must not do it.

No one at the marathon stopped to think whether you were liberal or conservative yesterday when they stopped to help. Why can't we just be united for a little while longer?

well said Rana...

I agree. That is the one thing I noticed about the videos from yesterday. People running right at where the bomb went off to help. They reacted so fast it shows their natural instinct was to help those in need. Luckily the end of a marathon always has a big group of medics around (normally for dehydration/blisters etc...) that were on scene immediately. Proud of the way the masses reacted.

Mostly agree. :cof1:
