Board Females - Is this offensive?

It's okay until it's not okay. Every woman understands this. I can't explain it any better than that.

Really? I think I get it, but I don't want to presume to know what you mean. Is it when flirting seems too real? Too serious? Too repetitive?

You're a smart cookie. You can put it into words if you really cared to explain it.

You enjoy this perplexing power, damn you!

Yet again Obama's slavish fans excuse his bad behavior. Getting an Obama stooge to criticize him for his mistakes apparently takes an act of God. Get a clue people , Obama is not really a "messiah".

Maybe not, but you really are an idiot.

Dude, I wouldn't be making any jokes about the "best-looking" in a business setting. It's just not a good idea. Like calling somebody "sweetie"...

Cawacko, female is a good word to use if you are talking about a cat. Try "women". Okay, just try it and see how it feels.
It depends on who it is. If it's a female, like Nancy Pelosi, then it's a bitch. If it's an actual human being, like Sarah Palin, then you have a woman. You, Darla, would fall under the former's category.

I don't find it offensive but I'm a male so what do I know...

Obama's "best-looking" remark draws reaction

Instead of leaving the Bay Area Thursday after what would have normally been a quiet two-day fundraising trip, President Obama faced some criticism for calling California's Kamala Harris "the best-looking attorney general in the country."

Obama's comments came at the second of two fundraisers in Atherton Thursday and began with praise for Harris' performance as attorney general.

"You have to be careful to, first of all, say she is brilliant and she is dedicated and she is tough, and she is exactly what you'd want in anybody who is administering the law and making sure that everybody is getting a fair shake," Obama said. "She also happens to be by far the best-looking attorney general in the country."

Reacting to news reports of the event, some critics labeled the remarks insulting. "Obama in need of gender-sensitivity training," read one blog from New York Magazine.

The reactions took place mostly on Twitter and on blogs, and many commentators took the comment as an opportunity to joke about who they believe are the most attractive attorneys general.

Also at the fundraiser, Obama singled out South Bay Rep. Mike Honda, a Democrat from San Jose who is facing former Obama administration official and fellow Democrat Ro Khanna in the 2014 election. The Honda campaign has been touting Obama's endorsement.

"Somebody who works tirelessly on behalf of California every day but also works on behalf of working people and makes sure that we've got a more inclusive America - a good friend of mine, somebody who you guys should be very proud of," Obama said of Honda.

The Atherton fundraisers benefited the Democratic National Committee and were held at the homes of Mark Heising and Liz Simons, and Marcia and John Goldman.

In his remarks, Obama highlighted the legacy he hopes to leave after his second term, saying he wanted to improve the economy for the middle class, address climate change and push for gay rights.

He also said he hopes to see immigration reform and new gun-control laws enacted, but that Americans will have to mobilize for such initiatives if the gridlocked Congress is to act.

Obama on Wednesday held two fundraisers in San Francisco for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, at which he emphasized his goal to return House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco to the speakership.

Obama left San Francisco Thursday afternoon and returned to Washington.

It depends. If the lady in question is the only female AG in the land then the comment would have been against the men. Therefore no offence, no insult to the lady. Should be no fuss. if, however, there are several female AsG then obviously it was wrong.
Political correctness can go too far...(has gone). There was a time one could identify gender by a person's name, but the American nonsense of naming babies by surname (Taylor!!! WTF) then there is no way to tell. OK perhaps there should not be a way to identify by gender. That's Ok as long as the ladies don't mind sharing the gents toilet (or vice versa) or if they are OK with not having time off to give birth.

I had an example yesterday while in a lunch party which included several children of varying ages. Someone (a male) suggested in a lighthearted manner that a maid should be employed to take care of them. - I dont like the idea of maids - so I said, in similar light vein, that the mothers should keep the children at home while the lads went out on the lash.
I quickly learned what Orwell's Room 101 would be like when one young mum rounded on me for being sexist!!
Fortunately I did not continue my first humourous thread by saying that we should have brought a large wooden box in which to place the children until we had finished lunch.
So lighten up peeps. Let's just enjoy each other's company.

Plain is a woman??? Don't you have opticians in America? The woman is a simpleton and should not be allowed out in public without a minder. Her grin is enough to persuade anyone that there is absolutely nothing behind her learing gob.

I am reliably informed that, in the world of theatre, the terms 'sweetie' and 'luvvy' are common parlance for people of either gender.
And where does one stop? Mate? OK. Pal? OK. Duck? (pron: as book. in Tom's neck o' th' woods), Luv? Meyansome (My handsome) in the south west of England, Mush? (in parts of the south), Chuck? (in the north). No doubt there are a million others ancient and modern.

See, yes, exactly, it's so funny how you don't have to explain this to other women. We all know.

Guys are going to be much more 'successful' when they realise that the quickest way to the bedroom is by way of laughter. It is easier, and cheaper, to laugh a lady into bed than buy her drinks and then call a taxi!

don't be sexist.

i think the thing is

women are already really sensitive about the fact that they are putting on their big boy clothes and playing pretend at big important man jobs that actually require man brains like mathy stuff and sciences and law. So when they are called attractive it just reminds them that the only reason they have the job is because of their looks because lol it's not for any other reason.

If on the other hand, you were to give your kids kindergarten teacher a nice slap on the ass for doing a good job, that would probably be much more highly received and ok. It's all about the environment that you are in guys, just remember that before acting inappropriately in the future.

Cawacko check this out: http://www.salon.com/2013/04/05/how_to_talk_about_a_womans_looks/

Man. See you guys don't even know how cool I am. You guys think I'm a "radical" feminist. That always makes me laugh. Some day one of you will really meet one and after she is done kicking the shit out of you, you will think to yourself "i really miss darla".

Well, you did tell Cawacko you would prefer he say "women" over "female" rather than "womyn." I think you outed yourself as milquetoast feminist right there.

They don't have toilets in America, they all take a dump and a piss in the bath. Of course that would never catch on oop North as that is where they keep the coal.

they should be called queen elizabeth II thrones and have her face inside every single one and when you flush the toilet it plays your crappy national anthem. you do realize we use that song too right? but we realized it was second rate so we relegated it to a second tier song.

As I was saying, if it's a real human being, it's a woman like Sarah Palin. If it's a scumbag bitch, it's a female like Nancy Pelosi

people usually tend to comment on the attractiveness of those that would normally be attracted to. guys usually don't think about how attractive other guys are. Obama isn't gay.

Another example of ingrained guy-thinking. I wasn't specifically referencing Obama but you took it as men complimenting men. Did Nancy Pelosi or Sarah Palin ever do it about some guy they liked? There are women in power positions and they do select men for jobs.
