Jim Carrey... jealous much?

The Canadian high school dropout can be forgiven for his ignorance about American history, including the NRA's role in helping blacks defend themselves against violent white racists. He claims Heston's movies are "no longer in demand." Perhaps this exposes Carrey's lack of religiosity. But he should know that every Easter, for the last 40 years (except 1999), broadcast television has aired "The Ten Commandments." Heston plays Moses. And it's a ratings winner.
Heston's other career roles include John the Baptist, Ben-Hur, El Cid and Michelangelo. Care to stack Heston's body of work next to Carrey's Ace Ventura ("Pet Detective") or his Lloyd Christmas ("Dumb & Dumber")?

Speaking of character, Heston, a cinema rock star, remained married to his college sweetheart, Lydia, for 64 years. Carrey, on the other hand, followed the well-worn Hollywood path: Get famous; get rich; dump the first wife/mother of your kid(s), who stood by you during the tough times; and act out your social life in the tabs to the embarrassment of your kid(s).

This might surprise Carrey, but there was a time when actors, like Heston, supported a cause that threatened both their careers -- and their lives.

In 1963, on the day of Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech, six men appeared on a television roundtable to discuss that day's March on Washington. These men were singer and civil rights activist Harry Belafonte; James Baldwin, author of the bestselling civil rights call-to-arms "The Fire Next Time"; writer/producer/director Joseph Mankiewicz; and actors Sidney Poitier, Marlon Brando and Heston.

When asked, at this '63 roundtable, why he joined this struggle for equal rights for blacks, Heston said: "Two years ago, I picketed some restaurants in Oklahoma, but with that one exception -- up until very recently -- like most Americans I expressed my support of civil rights largely by talking about it at cocktail parties, I'm afraid. But again, like many Americans this summer, I could no longer pay only lip service to a cause that was so urgently right, and in a time that is so urgently now."

More trashing of Carrey at the link...

If Carrey were an expert at something, or was even known for his intellect, I might take his words more seriously.

But he isn't so I don't. This was, I believe, a PR move on his part.

He has been a has been for so long now that he knows this is a good way to get the rabid fear mongers to love him again.

I agree he hasn't been relevant for a long time and his most recent movie was a flop. He is just trying to generate buzz by being "controversial"

Ahh...Charlton Heston. Poster boy for bedding every Hollywood actress he laid his eyes upon while married, including Barbara Stanwyk. Or the Heston known for several gay affairs? Or the Heston who, prior to Alzheimer's, supported gun control?

Yeah...what a role model. Not.

No one claimed Heston was perfect, not by a long shot. But standing up like he did during the civil right campaigns of the 1960s shows courage and character.

No, the point was that Heston was more than just 'cold dead hands'. He actually stood up for what he believed in, no matter the consequences or what people thought of him. He believed in civil rights, he stood up and fought for them. He believes in the second Amendment and he stood up against those who wish to violate it.

The other point of the article is the ass clown that feebly tried to mock him. What exactly has Jimmy ever done? Yeah... nada... except for making a self documentary with dumb and dumber.

Jim Carrey is a jealous loser who has never accomplished anything and all you guys are better than him.

He's worth 150 mil btw.

He is so totally jealous of you guys though.

Charlton Heston's best film by a long shot, quite literally, is Touch of Evil. The opening sequence is pure genius especially when you consider that there was no Steadycam in those days and there was no editing, it was all done in one take. It took all night to get it right though, apparently it was the last one before the sun came up that made it to final print.

Jim Carrey was funny when I thought farts and softcore sexual innuendo was funny. The last time I heard of him outside of here was when I saw Cableman, and before that . . . hmmmph IDK, at least 7 years since I cared.

I wonder how many people know that he campaigned against Eisenhower and backed Adlai Stevenson in 1956? Part of his motivation was his opposition at the anti-Communist witch-hunt launched by the Republican senator Joe McCarthy. Four years later, Heston at least had the satisfaction of being on the winning side when he backed John F Kennedy for the presidency.

He was good in The Truman Show

...in The Majestic

...in Bruce Almighty

...in Horton Hears a Who

...in A Christmas Carol

and I predict he's going to ROCK as Col. Stars & Stripes in Kick Ass 2 coming out soon!

But us "live and let live" types understand the haters gotta hate...it's all they've got.

So you agree with him being a NRA member who supported gun control?

Interesting...

That may be, but I haven't enjoyed his work for a while. I assumed he went to celebrity heaven or w.e. they go when they stop appearing in the news.

I think ya'll are reading a little to much into this....it was a hillarious video. I about heaved a lung when I say Lenin, Lincoln and Ghandi as his band. :)

Apparently some don't know the difference between satire and an ad hom.
