Lent

Giving to your church is not charity.
It is keeping your church going and expanding for the most part.

I on the other hand give about 20-25% of my annual income to the local food bank and such.

I neither attend church nor believe in god.

Santa Claus for adults.

I dont belive in that.

I dont belive in a specific individual God that takes a material form, or even a seperate individual form. I dont belive in a God that uses anything close to Human Reasoning.

God is the entirety of all existance, physical and non-physical. It goes beyond the bounds of the physical world.

All physical existance is simply God expressing itself in physical form for a temporary period of time.

Any god in whose existence you care to believe MUST use human reasoning. There is NO OTHER type of reasoning. Man made all the >2000 gods ever invented so they MUST (if you believe they reason) use human reasoning.
It is man's reason in creating these fanciful methods of control that should be questioned.
Break free, you know it is a reasonable action.

If you believe that a rock has some magical power then of course there may be people who think it is a god.

This is what I was responding to:
"All physical existance is simply God expressing itself in physical form for a temporary period of time."

Belief in a god, whether it be a double headed snake, a rock or an old man on a cloud is simply the imagination (not free imagination incidentally) of the person that believes.
So no god can express itself in any way, but the belief in a god certainly can.

some people see god in the pattern of mold on a piece of bread and call it a miracle.

Dogs learn and reason things which are not directly related to species survival.

Dogs are trained. I dont really believe that Lassie really told the mine boss that ole Jake was trapped under a rock fall.
No reasoning creature would greet another by shoving its nose up the other's arse! (No..USDumbo is NOT a reasoning creature!)

Almost entirely for species survival. If running away from danger or eating or mating with whatever is in front of you is reasoning then OK.

Fetching a stick is survival?
Affection for a human is survival?
Enjoying playing is not survival.
Neither is being a guide/service dog.

Dogs reason.

there are some on here who would love to greet Sarah Palin by shoving their noses up her arse.

Just because I belive something exists, does not mean I belive that thing uses human reasoning or that I completly understand that thing. Sorry... you fail.
