The Force is With Me
OK, and if they did....where would they go?
Possibly to a 3rd party. There are enough of them to make it work in a limited fashion. Limited by their ugly ideology.
OK, and if they did....where would they go?
No one is saying the Republican party is finished. We are saying that they need to reform to include more demographics.
You're wrong. Most southern and rural white working classes are not fanatics Republicans have no choice but to reach out to other demographics. They can't afford not to.
and you just brush aside Soros, Kerry, Rockefeller, the Kennedys, and the multitude of very rich Hollywood elite, etc. that finance the Dems ? Those elite that like to
consider themselves somwhat above the peons....above the law....living like kings and queens off the fat of the land.....?
They are quite different than the blue collar union workers and others (those riding on the wagon) you see as their base....
Convenient to put the blinders on ..... it just isn't that one sided and you should already be fully aware of that....
We'll just have to agree to disagree with that aspect of the debate.....
I wasn't responding to you. I was responding to Haiku.I didn't say they were fanatics or even all republicans.....but they are conservatives....
You view those religious folks as fanatics, they see the union thugs as fanatics....its different perspectives....
I haven't forgot anybody. What you forgot is that democrats don't have the same identity problem that republicans have .. which is what brings us to this conversation. It's what is bringing republican thinkers to this conversation.
The republican base .. as you described it .. is not the democratic base. They don't come from the rural south.
Face it .. the southern strategy has doomed your party unless it figures out how to adapt to a different America.
Where the hell is that written? I was a Republican for over 20 years of my life and I've never been a conservative. Very few establishment Republicans in the Great Lakes and NE Region are conservatives. It's only working class whites, mostly southern, who insist on this "Conservative" bugaboo which, unfortunately for Republicans, has become a code word for racism.I didn't say they were fanatics or even all republicans.....but they are conservatives....

That's a certain degree of hyperbole. The republican party is not doomed if it doesn't abandon the Southern Strategy. It will be less relevent in Presidential politics because they won't be able to build a ruling coalition which means they eventually lose influence on the federal courts but because of the geographical aspects of our political systems they could maintian a significant position in congress for a long time to come. So they are not "Doomed" but unless they reform they will become less and less relevent and therefore lesss influential and that in term will drive reform. The Republican party is not about to die and go away. Either party, if faced with irrellevancy, will reform.I haven't forgotten anybody. I'm hoping for serious thought among the inevitable partisan humor. :0)
If the current trend holds up, Obama will be re-elected. It would mean that republicans couldn't even beat the black guy with a foreign sounding name and a bad record .. who, according to most republicans, isn't even an American or a christian.
To compound the dilemna that republicans find themselves in, their base is shrinking, and by 2016 they'll have an even less chance of winning national elections than they do now.
One thing for sure, they do not have the ability to conform and adapt to changing demographics and social evolution. Without that ability, their future as a viable counter-balance to the Democratic Party does not look good.
What I predict is a fracturing of the party. The Tea Party wing of the party cannot get along with anything other than themselves. Moderate republicans will have the example of their failures to once again have a voice in the party. I predict that they will fracture, and a third party will emerge on the right.
Thoughts?
they either go back to their more centrist base, eg, less spending, less government or become obsolete.
i think they need to stay out of people's bedroom, unless there is not consent or something like incest. if you want to be for less government, stop trying to govern people's personal lives. how does a homosexual marrying another homosexual affect a republican? how does legalizing medicinal marijuan affect a republican?
"stay out of people's bedroom" ???
We hear that so many times.....just exactly wtf are you referring to....abortion ?.....homo marriage ? contraception ?
Its not medical care, pregnancy is not a disease....
its legal....whats the problem ? Its not the taxpayers duty to pay for anyones abortion.
Homos.....Call yourselves marryed, have a ball, who the hell cares.....just don't ask taxpayers to fund it....
Contraceptives ?...Why is that any concern of the taxpayer....buy your own prophylactics, I did.....I shouldn't have to pay for someone elses......
You talk about governing peoples personal lives....?
Who is demanding what your children should eat for school lunch ?
Who is demanding that salt be taken off the tables of resturants ?
Who is demanding that you not be able to buy a 'super sized' soda ?
etc.
Certainly not conservatives....
Bawhahahaha, bravo thinks the gays want the government to pay for their unions. I knew he was misinformed, this shows how sadly misinformed! Poor Popeye
I do get tired of pwning you ...and explaining the obvious......its getting boring...
The government will fund that homo union for as long as it lasts....assuming they file a 1040 with the IRS every year, fool.....

You, as a married man get that tax break, you also expect he government to "fund it"! Why should gays not have the same rights as you? Why shouldn't they get the same tax breaks? When the Bush tax cuts expire, the marriage penalty will be back, I bet gays will still want to marry, tax break or not.
You ish or one people to be second lass citizens ad that isn't moral.
I fixed one, but the last line is just a loser I ain't gonna attempt....
