Portrait of a Modern Feminist: Helen Smith

I count Mott as a very good friend, even if we had a major disagreement we wouldn't throw our toys out of the pram like some on here.

Mott is your "very good friend"? You know, I guess I have little doubt that a loser like you could count an internet message board name as a very good friend, if not your very best friend in the whole world. You spend every waking minute here, even posting from the pub, when you're not drunk texting female posters catty comments on their looks from there I mean. Internet relationships are not real and no one should put too much emphasis on them. You should have real friends in real life. They are the ones that matter.

You are a bitter old man ranting about the bitches on a message board Tom. There are plenty of others like you. You're not unique, you're not smart, you have no special insight. You're a cowardly woman hater. It's all you'll ever be. And contrary to your posts you know nothing about me, and you never will. Go paint your feminist stereotype and drink yourself to sleep with it at night. I'm sure it's comforting. At the end of the day I get to live my life, and you have to live yours.

Naturally you choose to characterise me that way, it certainly makes you feel better. Mott and I know each other in real life not just on a internet forum. If you say that I don't know you then you know even less about me and that suits me fine. Now why don't you take your election break and bore your friends and family with tales of the horrors of the nasty men on JPP.

Mott as for your divorce story, that is not the courts fault then, or anyone's fault. That's just real life. At some point people will do anything to get out of a bad marriage. I know a woman very well who gave up everything, including her half of the house, to get out. She signed it all away. In fact her divorce lawyer made her sign papers absolving him of any responsibility and stipulating he had advised against her signing the deal. It was so bad he was afraid she'd come back and sue him.

She just wanted out.

That's life. And let's not conflate that with the courts taking everything from you. They didn't. Nor do they. Someone may feel they got screwed, but the idea that the courts step in and strip men of everything in a divorce is laughable and easily debunked by the fact that women's standard of living after a divorce, statistically, is lowered and men's raised.

You guys just post shit with no regard for actual facts. You are very in love with "the bitch" anecdotes. But the data says otherwise. Not you in particular, I understand you then told the truth and that's great, but really. Come on here. This thread is a bunch of nonsense and whining.
Well In my case I never claimed that I was screwed by the courts. My point was I signed a no fault, walked away from all my worldy posession and got on with my life with out whining about it. That definately worked out for the best too.

How would you have felt if you had children and you had to go to court to get access?

Oh I've seen some ugly shit there man. I wouldn't like that at all. A man has virtually no rights in child custody cases except to support them. I don't know how many times I've seen vindictive ex wives deny their husbands visitation or custody rights, up to even defying court orders and getting away with it. That's why I said "Thank God we didn't have any children." in describing my own case. That shit gets ugly!!!

I had hair pulled from my scalp, scratches on my forehead going from the eyebrows back to the top of my head and a bite mark on my back and the police refused to take ANY pictures of my injuries.

With what animal did you cohabit? Sounds like a mountain lion.

Yet zealots like Darla go apeshit if you even mention something like that, it probably just as well that she never had children. An old girlfriend of mine was an ardent feminist, well she still is but has mellowed, who went on to be my friend's partner. It is divine providence, in my view, that she had two sons who both play rugby and are not very PC, she never did get a daughter to carry on the struggle.

That crazy bastard Topspin has been groaning me incessantly what the fuck he has in common with Darla is beyond me.

I have no idea what that is. I googled "putas" and ended up at a video titled "Russian sex girls get spanked".

PM the kink-link to Tommy TuTu, seeing some women getting hit might cheer the Slimy Limey up.

Shoot, that's nothing compared to some of the names I've been called. Some of which have been true and applicable. It's terrible I tell you!

Who cares? The namecalling doesn't hurt. All the misogynist crap here reflects on the misogynists, not their female targets. Tom makes only himself look like an ass.

This thread should be renamed " The Women Haters Club"....home of the shrinking dicks. Limbaughs buddies won't be happy until women reassume their proper place in society, two steps behind their 'man' with their heads bowed. But they want to 'save the women of Afghanistan' so they're good christians, right? Pathetic. Women should 'submit' and 'obey' and not have a voice. I'd guess they think it's always been that way, women always were second class members of the tribe...only those who believe the christian cool aide would believe that.

Feminists are your boogiemen. Vaginas rule!! The world is changing and being an angry white guy is your fall back position so gather in your compounds!

There's a new book out that might cause your heads to explode.

A landmark portrait of women, men, and power in a transformed world.

Men have been the dominant sex since, well, the dawn of mankind. But Hanna Rosin was the first to notice that this long-held truth is, astonishingly, no longer true. At this unprecedented moment, by almost every measure, women are no longer gaining on men: They have pulled decisively ahead. And “the end of men”—the title of Rosin’s Atlantic cover story on the subject—has entered the lexicon as dramatically as Betty Friedan’s “feminine mystique,” Simone de Beauvoir’s “second sex,” Susan Faludi’s “backlash,” and Naomi Wolf’s “beauty myth” once did.

In this landmark book, Rosin reveals how this new state of affairs is radically shifting the power dynamics between men and women at every level of society, with profound implications for marriage, sex, children, work, and more. With wide-ranging curiosity and insight unhampered by assumptions or ideology, Rosin shows how the radically different ways men and women today earn, learn, spend, couple up—even kill—has turned the big picture upside down. And in The End of Men she helps us see how, regardless of gender, we can adapt to the new reality and channel it for a better future.

The title is The End of Men: And the Rise of Women

I haven't read it and I'll reserve opinion until I know more but the last 30 years of right wing complaints and activism against women haven't blocked progress.

What you and yours have never understood is that womens liberation and feminists are fighting for everyones rights.

Your loss.

Something else. Your complaints are just a small example of what women have endured at the hands of men and the patriarchy for hundreds of years. A little taste of what women and those of color have been subjected to and look at you. Meltdown. You have no understanding of the world or power and how that power is used against you. Your on the wrong side, again.
