So at last, an admission that US corps just trample over people's rights the world over yet you would rather bitch about the one company that actually coughed up without having to be dragged through the courts for decades. They fucked up that's undeniable but at least they've made restitution, exactly how much has Transocean paid up to now? If you do not want to see oil spills in the Gulf then ban deepwater operations there altogether because as sure as night follows day there will be another accident sooner or later.

My problem then, now and forever was BP's unprecedented use of massive quantities of dispersants, as you well know. The rest of it is bullshit.

Very true... they were able to conveniently sweep most of the problem under the rug, but god only knows what the long-term effects of those dispersants will be.

I point out a few home truths about the behaviour of US corporations and that's being nationalistic, give me strength! As for dispersants, I would remind you of the Ixtoc 1 spill in 1979 where even higher quantities of dispersants, some of which are no longer used, were deployed to disperse the oil slick. What would you have them do anyway, just leave the oil alone? There were also huge quantities of chemicals used in the Persian Gulf when Saddam turned the taps on and poured over 7 million barrels of oil into the Gulf.

All the dumb proles in this thread were like "OMG, HE HAS NO CHOICE NOW!" And I simply responded that he can easily throw it back in harry reids face. I said this days before romneys campaign did exactly that.

I should honestly be running his campaign. I am such a genius I just run circles around all of you guys. I literally came up with the exact response his campaign should (and would) make days before they actually put it into gear, while everyone else was just assuming he was about to prostrate himself in front of the mighty harry reid.

Corexit mostly consists of surfactants and solvents which are specifically designed to break up oil to allow bacteria to digest it.
