When Did Feminism Become So Embarrassing?

He has not created a strawman. You are historically factually wrong and are making a huge ass out of yourself.

First wave feminism focused on suffrage and property rights. It was second wave feminism which addressed inequality in the workplace and in hiring practices.

You have no idea what you are talking about. You are inarguably wrong. It is not debatable. It is not a matter of opinion.

You are factually and historically wrong.

We are now in a third wave to reestablish the rights that we had secured, but apparently didn't! Our reproductive rights.

No, you don't, not really, otherwise, you wouldn't harp on the issues that you do. You wnt women to go along with you thought process on certain issues.

When it comes to sex, how much and how often and with how many partners, I do indeed respect whatever a woman chooses to do or not do. So no matter what you want to proclaim I do and do not believe, that is where I stand.

That said, 'choice' never trumps life. Ever.

We are now in a third wave to reestablish the rights that we had secured, but apparently didn't! Our reproductive rights.

Yeah I would say third wave is about reproductive rights and sexual freedom. They often feel the put the "fun" in feminism. I'm too old to be a third waver and too young to be a second waver, so I can appreciate them both and not feel defensive about either.

I challenge SF to describe the workplace reforms made by first wave feminism.

You need to look up what a strawman is. He most certainly did create one. It is you making a huge ass out of yourself.

So what wave are we on now? The third psychotic wave?

The radical feminists of today do more harm for their cause than good. That is why she doesn't want to associate with them. That is factual, not debatable. You are simply wrong.

It is the above mentality that is destroying the feminist name. You proclaim it about 'reproductive rights' when in reality you want the right to kill a child if that child is inconvenient for you. You have a choice to have as much sex as you want, with as many partners as you want. You have the right to choose what protection you will or will not use to prevent a pregnancy. Those are reproductive rights. You should not have the right to take another humans life just because you and your partner fucked up with regards to protection.

I challenge you to show us what feminism has done in the past 30 years...

let me splain it to you lucy.

The work that feminists hasve done in the past is what has enabled this woman to get the chance to be where she is.

Do you know why feminism has been associated with all those negative things she mentions?

Its the attempts if those who dont want women to gain anything in society have worked hard to label them that way.

The CEO accepted those labels as of they were deserved while benifiting from all those women who "did the right thing" and helped advance the women behind them.
I'm not going to dispute that necessary steps were taken to give women more equal footing in this society, but where you nutjobs get out of control is how you try to minimize men. Everyone suffers when feminists run wild, especially the children.

I dunno....I think you make a pretty good case for retroactive abortions. :)

SF first wave feminism is widely considered to have ended about 1920. By the time 1950 had come around women were more stifled than ever in the workforce, since the end of WWII sent them back home to make room for the returning men. It was not until the release of a study commissioned by JFK on female inequality and the release of The Feminine Mystique that second wave feminism really took hold and that is the feminist movement which addressed workplace inequality, hiring practices that are now illegal, pay practices that are now illegal, promotion practices that are now illegal etc.

You can try and change the subject by emoting about "today's radical feminists" who are factually far less radical than the second wavers (who are the feminists you are really talking about unbeknownst to you), but it won't change the fact that there is no strawman and you were wrong.

Is it that or is it that you want us to bend over and kiss the Popes ass like you do?

Happy to. But not so fast.

First provide evidence for your original claim. Don't try and divert. Admit you were wrong or provide evidence. Show me the reforms made by first wave feminism that impacted workplace gender inequality.

IT was second wave feminism that made abortion legal and that is the same feminist movement which fought for workplace equality. That is the problem you have. You do not know anything about the history of feminism and you are emoting about abortion as usual. You made an ass out of yourself. Move on or present the first wave reforms.

Point to me any mass political movement where that's not true about extremist? Though I think you do point out the real reason for male knee jerk hostility towards feminism. Deep seated feelings of anxiety and insecurity that they and their traditional role in society are being minimalized but then again if your some kind of pansy who worries about being emasculated by women....then guess what..you're to fucking late.

Here's one stat for you SF, see what you get out of it.

In 1950 women earned 59 cents for every dollar men earned.

But by 1950 everything good about feminism was already finished.

Let's see you make sense out of those two statements.

The term is pro-life. You have plenty of choices that you can make that will prevent pregnancies. But I don't want to turn this into an abortion thread. So I will leave it at that.

Unless and until the choice or lack of one exists on a personal level for you, you don't get to define it for anyone else. The 'choice' regards abortion - not The choice to have sex, to procreate, to engage in foreplay or whatever. It regards specifically the choice to ABORT, a legal procedure. Doing everything possible to thwart getting one would deny women that CHOICE. Hence, anti-choice. The term is apt and accurate.

Yes I think some men do have that insecurity. It's always interesting and I enjoy discussing it to get different male views. For instance, some men I have spoken with are not the least bit threatened by their SO earning significantly more than they are. Some blue collar men have no problem with this and I always wonder if it's because they are often really (REALLY! ;)) well built and so their masculinity does not feel threatened by earning less. It's really fascinating to get different views. There is no one size fits all IMO.

I was really confused at the start of this, but I should have known since it's SF it all came down to abortion.

I have a feeling it dawned on SF, let us say "retroactively" that Anita Hill was 1991.

He stepped in it big time here, but before I shred that, I want to finish up with his initial claim. Were you wrong SF?

"Feminists running wild"

:rofl2:
