How does it feel to now be a taxpayer?

Reality check:

If you are employed and you could not afford to buy insurance before, you now have insurance companies who will compete for your business, your small business employer will get a tax incentive in order to be able to give coverage to his employees. Insurance companies will NOT be able to screw you when you get sick or if you have an pre-condition.

The only "tax" will come to those who refuse to buy health insurance but can afford to (if your below the poverty line, this doesn't affect you)...which will be affordable for individuals and families (although I for the life of me can't see why a family would refuse health insurance for their kids).

Insurance companies DON'T like to be told what to do (just ask Wendell Potter and Dr. Peelo), so raising their rates is a punitive action as their profit margins were doing quite well last year. That will change, according to the sacred tenants of the free competitive market.

Bottom line: after 30 years of HMO's, it's time to recognize that fuck up and start making a change for the better.

let's be honest, apple.....if the Dems had said "lets pass a prohibition on exclusion for preexisting conditions" the debate would have been over in January of 2009......we both know that isn't what the debate is about.....

The debate is, essentially, about the same thing SS was about. Some people didn't plan for their retirement before SS came along and others didn't plan well enough. In the end someone had to look after those folks. Not only does the same thing apply to medical care but who knows what amount of care will be needed? At least one can figure out roughly how much they'll require for retirement. How does one estimate what illnesses and accidents they may have to prepare for? In the end some people are lacking sufficient insurance coverage while others are making a fortune off the premiums that other folks paid and who used very few services. The aggregate amount of money paid into medical insurance is far more than what is paid out in the form of medical care.

Then there's things like preventative check-ups. ObamaCare has implemented a policy where insurance companies have to cover check-ups. A minuscule amount of money compared to treating an illness but who is going to go for a check-up when they feel well, if they have to pay for it? If people can be persuaded to go for check-ups by having the insurance company pay for them the savings will be enormous and those savings can go towards medical care for others.

Some people have made the debate about cost but that's not the real reason. We know that by the statistics from every country with a government plan. Costs are less. Quite a bit less.

???....it wasn't reneged....the cuts were made.....we are still waiting for the required $500 billion to domestic programs to be proposed....

Ah, my mistake. I forgot the Repubs tried and failed at that, as well. :rofl2:

House Passes Bill Stemming Defense Cuts

The House of Representatives voted Thursday afternoon to pass the GOP’s plan to replace the sequestration or automatic cuts that would have slashed the defense budget with another set of budget reductions that curtail domestic programs.

The Sequester Replacement Reconciliation Act of 2012, which passed 218-199 with one member voting present, received no Democratic support. Sixteen House Republicans joined 183 House Democrats in opposition.(End)

So you lied.
There are no available funds to cover Obama care.

I said the money is there. The government collects money and proportions it as it sees fit.

Think of the government as the average Joe. Taxes are like Joe's pay check. They can be spent on whatever the government decides just like Joe can spend his pay check on whatever he decides. Is that so difficult to understand?

So you agree that Obama sponsered a bill that has no available funding and no plan on how it's to be funded.
Thanks

Wasn't Dix saying just that a couple days ago?

Our friend Dixie is a classic sufferer of cognitive dissonance, rationalization being one symptom. An example: "The Fox and the Grapes by Aesop. When the fox fails to reach the grapes, he decides he does not want them after all. Rationalization (making excuses) is often involved in reducing anxiety about conflicting cognitions." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_dissonance

First Dix was hoping the SC would strike down ObamaCare. When it didn't Dix then rationalized that decision benefited Conservatives.

Huh? Obama did have a plan on how to fund it but the court struck it down so now Obama will think of another way. As I said before the money is there and the savings will be enormous.

really....the SS debate was about creating one type of health insurance and forcing everyone to purchase that one type?....

The SS debate was about one type of retirement plan and compelling everyone to participate in order to ensure everyone would be protected.

The strange thing about all this is the most vocal opponents are the ones who will benefit the most due to their general lack of comprehension.
