MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay (AP) -- The South American country of Uruguay has a long tradition of secularism, to the point that a popular president in the early 1900s insisted on writing the word "God" with a lowercase "g'' whenever he wrote about his policies in local newspapers.

So when the Catholic Church recently proposed erecting a statue of the Virgin Mary in a park next to a popular promenade, a debate erupted over whether religious symbols in public places violate the separation between church and state.

Why do you not demonstrate by Book, Chapter and Verse where "wink, wink" THE BIBLE commands someone be put to death by Stoning, under the current covenant with God, the New Testament Covenant of Christ Jesus?

Why do "ignorant" people rush to judge in ignorance? A few "Biblical Truths" for you. There have been several "Covenants/Contracts" between God and Man in the History contained in the Bible. 1. The Noahic 2. The Abrahamic 3. The Mosaic and lastly 4. The New Testament Covenant of Christ Jesus.

You are attempting to present some "archaic" Law that existed under one of the previous covenants....a covenant that existed only between God and the nation of Biblical Israel...that included no binding laws to any gentile.... a nation other than Hebrew, that most certainly does not apply to any modern form of Catholicism or to the Covenant between Jesus/God and man.

Example: God did note make a covenant that enforced any previous generation when the Law of Moses went into effect, that covenant was for the people of Israel, at that time in history, not for any others on earth, "And Moses called all of Israel, and said to them, Hear, oh Israel, the statues and judgments which I speak in your hearing today (whan? today at that time period, not yesterday, not tomorrow, but today for the peoples of Israel to hear....no other nation on earth was bound by these statues and judgments...only Biblical Israel).....

Pretty clear and unambiguous...such statues did not apply to any gentile in the future, nor did they apply to those living under the New Testament Covenant of Christ. Why? The history is clear in the Bible concerning Covenants and Statues/Judgments, God foretold in prophecy that the Old Testament Covenant of Moses, the one preceding the New Testament Covenant would vanish and be replaced with a New Covenant, "Behold the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, NOT ACCORDING TO THE COVENANT THAT I MADE WITH THEIR FATHERS IN THE DAY I TOOK THEM BY THE HAND AND LED THEM OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT. MY COVENANT THEY BROKE, THOUGH I WAS HUSBAND TO THEM (like being married to Israel, taking care of and cultivating them in the ways of God), SAYS THE LORD". -- Jer. 31-32

Just as the New Testament point out, the Old was done away with, "...for on the one hand there is an annulling (divorce of a marriage contract as pointed out in Jer.) of the former commandment because of its weakness and unprofitableness, for the Law (the old law) made nothing perfect....on the other hand there is a better hope...(i.e., in the New Testament Covenant). -- Heb. 7:18-19. Was God imperfect in making the covenant? Of course not the imperfection was due to mankind and his sinful ways in not being able to live a sin free life....as pointed out in Jer. THEY CONTINUALLY BROKE GOD'S COMMANDMENTS. So it was replaced with a more spiritual covenant between God and Man, where one man who lived a perfect sin free life could and did take the sins of the world upon his shoulders in becoming the perfect sacrificial lamb of God. Christ Jesus.

Jesus became the "mediator" of a better covenant (Heb. 8:6)

And again it is pointed out that during the days of Jesus on earth the old law was slowly becoming obsolete, "In that He says, A NEW COVENANT. He has made the 1st obsolete. Now....obsolete and growing old...it is ready to vanish away." -- Heb. 8:13

Thus, in the 1st century they (the people who accepted Jesus' doctrine" YOU are now DEAD to the Old Law THROUGH THE BODY OF CHRIST.....THAT YOU MAY BE MARRIED TO ANOTHER (NEW COVENANT).....-- Rom. 7:4-7

There are some ETERNAL STATUES of GOD (like the 10 commandments) that were carried forth into the New Covenant...but things such as animal sacrifices, physical circumcision, and other archaic laws were not carried forth into the New Contract -- Heb. 10:1-10, Col. 2:11-17 Thus, old law and its archaic method were NAILED TO THE CROSS OF CHRIST.

So....stoning clearly was not an option unless you wanted to be tried for MURDER.
