Is this what will eventually happen the religious right will leave the GOP and form their own party?

What will they call it, would love to hear some idea for their name.

The Army of God has already been taken, so that's out.

I really hope that happens, it will be good for America.

They can call it Christian Jihad.

If the Republicans did not make accommodations for them they would be relegated to the status they deserve.

I think he's a horrible person who doesn't practice his father's teachings. But as long as he doesn't join the Dems, I'm good. :)

I don't know about forming their own party, but if Graham is leaving the GOP, I am sure there are those who agree with him and they will have to go somewhere because they aren't leaving politics.

Conservatives generally, are on verge of abandoning the GOP. Apart from de-registering as republicans, I'm not sure what the actual effect would be since it's not like they're going to start voting for liberal democrats. Graham may be trying to send them a message.

What is so horrible about him?

Did he leave a girl for dead after driving a car off of a bridge?

Was he accused of rape?

Let me guess. His opposition to murdering unborn babies is what makes him "horrible" to you?

They have been defecting in droves since 2008 and McCains failed campaign. I honestly believe that Palin's popularity scared the shit out of McCain and he threw the race. The establishment GOP is finally being exposed for all to see. I came to my senses during Bush's second term.

Me too.

There just isn't enough daylight between progressivism and establishment Republicans. They keep insisting we can't win nationally without being progressive lite. But the problem is too many people who might turn out for a more attractive candidate won't or didn't turn out for McCain or Romney.

A Trump or Cruz can change that. That could be a nail in the establishment coffin.

He's not just a hater, he's a conspiracy nut and doesn't seem to be very bright.

"Building the cultural center near Ground Zero (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Park51), he says, means Muslims "will claim now that the World Trade Center property ... is Islamic land."

"I think the president's problem is that he was born a Muslim, his father was a Muslim. The seed of Islam is passed through the father like the seed of Judaism is passed through the mother. He was born a Muslim, his father gave him an Islamic name."

"The Muslim Brotherhood is very strong and active in our country. It's infiltrated every level of our government. Right now we have many of these people that are advising the US military and State Department on how to respond in the Middle East, and it's like asking a fox, like a farmer asking a fox, "How do I protect my henhouse from foxes?" We've brought in Muslims to tell us how to make policy toward Muslim countries. And many of these people we've brought in, I'm afraid, are under the Muslim Brotherhood."

"...Graham said the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan "may be" the second coming and Armageddon."

Graham defended Russian President Vladimir Putin (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vladimir_Putin)'s stance against homosexuality, praising him for "protecting children from any homosexual agenda or propaganda."

Not untrue. I say that because even though the WTC isn't Muslim land, there's no shortage of historical precedent of Muslims building mosques to signify Muslim control of territory.

"I think the president's problem is that he was born a Muslim, his father was a Muslim. The seed of Islam is passed through the father like the seed of Judaism is passed through the mother. He was born a Muslim, his father gave him an Islamic name."

True.

True again. The mainstream media dutifully steered clear of it, but Senior DHS [yes, the department of Homeland Security] advisor Mohammed Elibiary was let go [aka fired] from his position after Tweeting that 'the return of the caliphate was inevitable' amongst some other statements only a committed Islamist would utter. I think that's called letting the fox guard the hen house.

And how's that for some ISIS recruiting material?

"...Graham said the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan "may be" the second coming and Armageddon."

Graham defended Russian President Vladimir Putin (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vladimir_Putin)'s stance against homosexuality, praising him for "protecting children from any homosexual agenda or propaganda."

Putin may be a dictator but he has his moments.

Liberals are funny; they think that because Christians leave the GOP, they will suddenly stop voting for Republicans in Presidential and local political elections.

Of course, everyone will have to decide what is better; not voting and letting a Democratic candidate win the election, or voting and marginalizing the dumbest of the dumb from political power.

Rev. Franklin Graham: Apostle of Hatred

If America is to protect itself by “countering violent extremism,” as President Obama’s recent summit intends, it must first hold accountable its own violent patriotic and Christocentric extremists. A violence-arouser to start with is Rev. Franklin Graham, son of famed evangelist Billy Graham, who is called the “pastor to presidents” and who led former president George W. Bush to “commit my heart to Jesus Christ.”

Rev. Franklin Graham, now leader of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and international aid group Samaritan’s Purse, has left a trail of Islamophobic rants since the horrible 9/11 attacks against America. His response then was not to call America to engage in national soul-searching—as prophets of The Bible might have done. Rather, he blamed 9/11 on Islam, calling it a “very wicked and evil religion.”

Never mind the documentation that shows Muslims do not “hate our freedom,” as former president George W. Bush charged to explain 9/11. They hate our so-called Christian nation’s support of tyrannies in their countries, and favoring Israel at the expense of Palestinian rights.

Rev. Graham’s glorification of his brand of Christianity depends on him condemning Islam as a “violent form of faith,” which led him to do violence to Islam with this glaring lie: “‘Nowhere in its history gives proof of peace (italics added).’” He continued, “‘Islam itself has not changed at all in 1500 years . . . It is the same. It is a religion of war.’” He cited the Islamic State, the Taliban and Boko Haram, and concluded, “This is Islam. It has not been hijacked by radicals. This is the faith, this is the religion. It is what it is. It speaks for itself.”

If Rev. Graham had studied the history of Islam, he might have read Dr. Najib Saliba documented essay on “Christians and Jews Under Islam,” which concludes, “I would like to emphasize that the treatment of Christians and Jews in Muslim states, Arab or Ottoman, was far superior to the treatment Muslims and Jews received at the hands of Christian states, or Palestinians at the hands of the Jewish state of Israel.”

“Nowhere in its history gives proof of peace.” Evidently Rev. Graham is not aware of the revered Muslim leader, “Saladin: A Benevolent Man Respected By Christians.” Faysal Burhan wrote about him this way: “In 1099 Jerusalem had fallen to the First Crusaders slaughtering its Christian, Muslim and Jewish inhabitants, after promising them safety, but did not spare the lives of children, women or elderly.” Burhan continued, when Saladin retook Jerusalem 88 years later, “Adhering to the teachings of Islam” (italics added), he “did not slaughter the city’s Christian inhabitants. Saladin’s noble act won the respect of his opponents and many more people throughout the world.”
