violent and abusive cops are what we call 'gypsy' cops, going from municipality to municipality after costing the previous city thousands to millions. These 'gypsy' cops are also highly prized and protected by the unions over cops that actually respect the rule of law and their jobs.

If anyone brings a complaint of wrongdoing by a police officer to the attention of the FBI or U.S. Attorney, they will investigate it.

The investigation has one purpose: to find out whether the officer committed a violation under the federal civil-rights statute.

It's an issue that deserves notoriety. It's about abuse of public trust. Often, police are just doing their jobs to the best of their abilities. They walk into a situation with an individual not of the highest character. The situation lends itself to complaints.

Each case is investigated by the FBI, and its investigation is reviewed by the U.S. Attorney's Office civil rights branch in D.C..

It's important to note that the U.S. Attorney's Office and the FBI are required to investigate each case.

They're also the only cases they can confirm are being investigated, so that the public knows allegations against law enforcement are being looked into...

if they weren't highly prized, they wouldn't keep getting hired on by other towns and cities with knowledge of their previous excessive force findings and settled lawsuits.

Hmmm. Where does it say he was "highly prized" as a "gypsy cop", which is what you claimed?

He points out a pattern and gives examples in the threads where he mentions it, are you unable to determine patterns? Did you miss that part of kindergarten?

He made a claim and hasn't backed it up.

Or if he has, link up to it, Daddy Damo.

You have yourself linked to the thread containing the examples he's given, but you pretend you are incapable of reading? I'm not sure what your claim is here, it is either that you cannot determine patterns or are incapable of reading, I hope you get the help you need either way.

The city will pay a $360,000 settlement to a civil rights lawyer and his wife who claimed they were falsely arrested by cops after objecting to the beatdown of a drug suspect on a Brooklyn street.

The Warrens got out of their vehicle and Michael Warren told the sergeant what he was doing was wrong and illegal. The couple alleged they were punched in the face before being charged with disorderly conduct. They spent about six hours in police custody.

"Without the witnesses, it would have been our words against the police version of the incident, which was totally wrong and false," Evelyn Warren said outside Brooklyn Federal Court.

Their lawyer Jonathan Moore said the substantial payout confirms the officers engaged in wrongdoing and noted that Talvy and Officers Joseph Tillotson, Anthony Carozza and John Acconi have cost the city over a half a million dollars to settle multiple lawsuits.

The Civilian Complaint Review Board substantiated an excessive force allegation against Talvy in the Warrens' case. He was promoted to lieutenant in 2009.

The Clayton County sheriff has hired two of the former Atlanta Police Department officers who were fired in the aftermath and investigations of the botched and unconstitutional Eagle raid, according to a report by WSB TV.

Clayton Sheriff Kem Kimbrough told WSB reporter Mark Winne he had no worries about hiring former APD Sgt. Willie Adams and Officer Cayenne Mayes. APD Chief George Turner fired the two men for lying during an in investigation of the 2009 raid on the gay bar.

Adams was fired from the APD for saying he did not witness patrons of the bar being patted down, that he participated as a supervisor in detaining the patrons, which went against APD standard operating procedures, and that he lied when he said he told officers to allow the patrons to sit up rather than remain lying down on the bar's floor, according to a city attorney at a Civil Service Board hearing in October.

Mayes testified to the city's Civil Service Review Board that he did not intend to lie when he told the Atlanta Citizen Review Board in March 2010 he did not pat down or frisk any patrons in the gay Midtown bar when it was raided Sept. 10, 2009.

n May, however, during an APD Office of Professional Standards investigation and the $1.2 million Greenberg Traurig investigation, Mayes admitted he did pat down at least three men during the raid. He was fired by APD Chief George Turner in July after the Greenberg Traurig and OPS reports were finished and made public, showing he, Adams and many officers violated the rights of the patrons in the Eagle as well as did not follow policies.

The Clayton sheriff told WSB that APD's loss is Clayton County's gain.

"I respect the judgment of the Atlanta police department. Certainly Chief George Turner is a friend and mentor of mine," Sheriff Kimbrough said in an interview with Winne. "The upside is that the citizens of Clayton County get some of the finest-trained, most experienced officers."

Lithonia Police Chief Washington Varnum, Jr. is accused of attempting to serve his own eviction notice.

"He basically provided a sworn statement to the courts that he himself could not be found," said Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (POST) spokesman Ryan Powell.

The POST Council voted to revoke Varnum's police certification in December 2010, citing unprofessional or deceptive conduct and bad moral character.

"I think it sends a pretty strong message that the council felt that this person at that time should not be in law enforcement anymore," said Powell.

Varnum fought the revocation saying he treated his own eviction notice like all of the others. He resigned from the marshal's office while under investigation on charges of neglect of duty, falsifying a document and unbecoming conduct.

Months later, the Lithonia Police Department hired him anyway, and then promoted him to chief. The case has been on appeal for more than a year and a half.
