Some Facts about the UAE

Some facts about the United Arab Emirates, future operator of our ports:

– The UAE was one of three countries in the world to recognize the Taliban as the legitimate government of Afghanistan.

– The UAE has been a key transfer point for illegal shipments of nuclear components to Iran, North Korea and Lybia.

– According to the FBI, money was transferred to the 9/11 hijackers through the UAE banking system.

– After 9/11, the Treasury Department reported that the UAE was not cooperating in efforts to track down Osama Bin Laden’s bank accounts.

But the UAE are great buddies of several US businesses.
When money and ethics collide, which one almost always comes out the winner ?

yeah, try The Carlyse Group....the UAE just made an $8 billion dollar investment in them...

and then there is NEIL'S company...

The Lou Dobbs show, CNN, 2/22/06:

CHRISTINE ROMANS, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice over): The oil-rich United Arab Emirates is a major investor in The Carlyle Group, the private equity investment firm where President Bush’s father once served as senior adviser and is a who’s who of former high-level government officials. Just last year, Dubai International Capital, a government-backed buyout firm, invested in an $8 billion Carlyle fund.

But there’s much more:
[i]
Another family connection, the president’s brother, Neil Bush, has reportedly received funding for his educational software company from the UAE investors. A call to his company was not returned.

Do you really believe that George Bush has intimate knowledge of his brothers financial accounts, much less understands what they mean? Actually, Bush didn't even have anything to do with the deal. He probably didn't know about it until he saw it on the TV screen, with protectionists going nuts because we're daring to allow an individual from another nation to deal with and individual from the US.

YOU are being extremely naive if you believe that President Bush does not know his Brother's and Father's companies are involved in such a major way... with the UAE imo.

Care, you are so convoluted in your views, I don't know if anyone can ever get you straightened back out again. What exactly do you propose we do? Stop doing business with ALL Arab countries who have had any connection to terrorist groups in the past? Jeesh... that leaves us with Israel! Do you want us to un-ally ourselves with the entire middle east, and stop all trade, thereby crippling their economies? Do you think that is the best way for us to proceed in our endeavor to change their sentiments toward us? Stop doing business with them and brand them as "terrorist sympathizers?"

For your information, the UAE is probably one of the least radicalized Muslim nations of the entire middle east. They are governed by a monarchy or royal family, much like other Arab nations, but not by a ruthless fanatical dictator. The government is very friendly with the US and always has been, they are neigbors of Kuwait, and have been of great assistance to us in the logistics of moving ships in and out of the Persian Gulf region. These people are NOT our enemies, they are a representation of the type of Muslim people we CAN work with and help to change the middle east.

One thing you don't seem to comprehend is, these people have to live in the midst of radical extremism, and their country is so small, they can ill-afford to piss off alQaeda or any other radical group, so they must be discrete with what they say in public or the perception they give to the rest of the middle east, they can't afford to buddy up to the 'Great Satan', but they have been very beneficial to us in combating terror, just as Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have, since 9/11. You seem to be hell bent on destroying our good relations with them, because you have some concocted notion that Bush and Cheney are getting rich dealing with a terror state, and duping us all in the process.

The Carlyle Group is a HUGE international conglomerate, and they have connections to almost every nation on the planet, there is nothing out of the ordinary in them dealing with our ally, the UAE.

You preach to us about the Christian beliefs... let's all be like Jesus and try to love one another... blah blah... (just so long as we don't send them any money or help their economy.) Let's be like Jesus, but let's cast judgement on the UAE because we all know they can't be trusted! Let's appeal to the peaceful Muslims to join us in condemning the radicals, but let's not give them one dime, and let's send the message that we are punishing them for being friends with terrorists in the past. Is THAT how you think we can win the War on Islamofascism?

Actually, the Israeli people used terrorism in order ot convince the British to give them a nation. The British just said "fuck, who cares" and did it. So, Israel would actually be a country FOUNDED on terrorism, unlike most middle eastern nations.

Are you a product of Public Education, or is that what the anti-Semitic Eurotrash told you to think? You pinheads worry me, not knowing the difference between a persecuted ethnic group fighting for survival and terrorism.

Quashing protectionism is pointless.

For every protectionist you quash with logic 10 pop up in its place - protectionists are like a virus.
