A few questions must be raised....

first, it appears that earlier reports said there were twenty, this report says there were 70...

this report gives two bits of information.....they were found in a cave five years ago......and the finder claims they have been in his family's possession for a hundred years....

the archeologist promoting this find has apparently been involved in some gray area archeology before....

if they truly are 1st Century or even 3rd Century as some have said it would be an interesting find.....though as one archeologist has said they could also have been made from metal sheets taken from a 2000 year old coffin.....

The tooling to create the images as well as the holes and the seals would be apparent, while the metal plates themselves could have been "found" placing the images on them would leave a trace. Any metalworker would be able to point them out. It would be difficult, if not impossible, to create the patina after the fact.
