I don't want them to redraw districts in their favor. I want them redrawn independently and fairly for both sides.
I hear ya, and in an "ideal world", I would want "fair maps" too (meaning ones that keep communities together and don't purposely carve in/out certain areas in order to make a district "red" or "blue").
However, we don't live in an "ideal world". We live in a world in which Team Donkey, for decades now (at a bare minimum, and in addition to the unfettered illegal alien invasion that they've used, since Reagan's amnesty deal, to gain handfuls of House seats that they don't deserve), have been gerrymandering districts in the States that they control in order to gain at least a couple dozen more representatives in the House that they don't deserve and that they can't fairly win.
IOW, Team Donkey are cheaters. Historically, Team Elephant has just allowed them to do that without fighting back (because they are "controlled opposition"). However, since Donald Trump, Team Lion is now fighting back and is "in it to win it".
States that Republicans control need to gerrymander the ever loving FUCK out of their districts and reclaim every single representative that Team Donkey has stolen from them (and THEN some!) ... This is a war that Team Donkey has waged against We The People for decades, and now it's about time that Team Lion steps in and wins it. While Team Donkey has already largely "shot their wad" re: gerrymandering, Republicans have the opportunity to not only START doing it in their states, but to start doing it to the extent that Team Donkey has already done it.
Indiana could be represented by
ALL R's if they only had the balls to do so and weren't RINOs. Numerous Southern States could now also do so with the most recent SCOTUS ruling on the Voting Rights Act. Texas could go plenty further than they currently have.
THEN, photo ID, Very limited mail in ballots. One weekend, national voting day.
My personal requirements:
For starters:

All votes must be counted on election day (no "counting ballots for days/weeks")
Nationwide ban on "ballot harvesting"
Paper ballots only
Nationwide voter ID requirement based on proof of citizenship
Nationwide requirement for everyone to re-register to vote every X years
Nationwide ban on drop boxes
Nationwide ban of "vote by mail" and "absentee voting" (except for military and those who are medically incapable of showing up in person)
