Iran's currency hit a record low on Sunday of 100,000 rials to the dollar amid a deepening economic crisis and the imminent return of full US sanctions.

The rial has lost half its value against the dollar in just four months, having broken through the 50,000-mark for the first time in March.

The handling of the crisis was one of the reasons behind last week's decision by President Hassan Rouhani to replace central bank chief, Valiollah Seif. The government attempted to fix the rate at 42,000 in April, and threatened to crack down on black market traders. But with banks often refusing to sell their dollars at the artificially low rate, the government was forced to soften its line

The currency collapse was precipitated by the US announcement in May that it was pulling out of the 2015 nuclear deal.

The unofficial rate stood at 102,000 rials by midday.

Former FBI Director Robert Mueller was granted an ethics waiver to serve as special counsel investigating the Trump campaign's alleged collusion with Russia during the 2016 presidential election.

In response to a POLITICO Freedom of Information Act request, the Department of Justice released a one-sentence memo Friday confirming that Mueller was granted a conflict-of-interest waiver.

The Department of Justice has ordered former FBI Director James B. Comey to preserve any government records in his possession.

The order covers such documents as memos he wrote for the record on his private meetings with President Trump and former President Barack Obama.

Comey wrote memos on his laptop and also used a personal Gmail account for FBI business — a practice that the inspector general said violated Justice Department guidelines.

Commiefornia Sanctuary enclave wants to ban company cafeterias

San Franshitsco supervisors want to help the city’s failing restaurant industry by doing away with employee cafeterias in private businesses.

Supervisors Ahsha Safai and Aaron Peskin introduced new legislation prohibiting employee cafeterias from being included in new office buildings.

“This is another way to help support small businesses,” Safai told the San Franshitsco Chronicle.

“This is also about a cultural shift,” he said. “We don’t want employees biking or driving into their office, staying there all day long and going home. This is about getting people out of their office, interacting with the community and adding to the vibrancy of the community. The idea here is to bolster, not only the restaurant business, but other ground-floor retail businesses that are suffering.”




Maybe workers would do that if they didn't have to wade through piles of shit, used hypodermics, and homeless crazy people.

A DEMOCRAT House candidate in Kentucky wants all immigrants living in the country illegally to be granted amnesty.

Hank Linderman made the call in a statement obtained by the Courier Journal newspaper on Monday.

"I am calling for action to help the millions of undocumented people by granting amnesty," Linderman said in the statement.

The Democratic candidate said that all immigrants living in the country would be granted amnesty as of July 4, presumably in 2019, if he wins.
