Apparently you misread what I said. #1) I do not believe in a "sky daddy" -- that would be Stretch, not Owl. #2) our current system is fine -- it is a blend of capitalism and socialism that seems to be mostly working okay although most of us agree that it could be better. #3) none of us get to choose how our tax dollars are spent, other than through the representation we select via the ballot.

It seems like when the word "socialism" starts being thrown about, a lot of knees start jerking. Looks like a Russian dance club in here. lol

No doubt His response would be cryptic and confound the listener. My guess is he would say something like ‘beware of making your ideology a false god’ and go on to quote something out of the OT.

I don't know about a "charlatan tax" (great name, btw) but yes -- churches *and* their preachers should be taxed. Here's an interesting tale.

Where we used to live there was an old Catholic hospital. It shut down some time in the 80s or 90s, I don't recall exactly when. Eventually the archdiocese sold it to the Presbyterian church. They razed it and built a retirement-to-nursing home center on it for the wealthy. It cost over $500K to buy a retirement suite there, plus $5K/month. As you aged and your health declined you could move into the assisted living section, and then finally to the nursing home. You still would be paying the $5K/month plus any other expenses like medications, treatments, therapy, etc. It has 234 independent living units and another 80 are in the works to be added, so quite a money-maker. The church declined to pay taxes on this cash cow, claiming that it was exempt because it's "church property." The city and county sued. It was settled out of court eventually, with the church having to pay taxes on the independent units but not on the SNF units. It's only $1M/year but better than nothing.

Try not to take RavingBoy's words to heart. He thinks that *any* criticism of Xtian behaviors is "hating" on them. Doesn't matter whether you are pointing out the hypocrisy of a Joel Osteen or the wrong-headedness of a JPP poster who claims to be Xtian but decorates his speech with the n-word.... if you say anything about that, you hate *all* Xtians. lol

2) When our current system forces on group, those that mean something and contribute to society, to support the other group, those that have no value to society and constantly demand something from it, it's not fine. I am interested to know how you believe something can be fine then think is could be better.

3) For those that benefit from programs to which they pay no taxes, they get a say on how something is done for which they provide nothing in return

Kind of like advocating for strict border security is hating on Hispanics lol? Or restricting immigration from *some* Muslim countries is anti-Muslim?

Isn't it interesting that Trump did not want to restrict immigration from "*some* Muslim countries".... even though 9/11 terrorists came from them, because of business interests there?

Few realize what the Biblical definition of a widow is. It is a woman age 62 or older who has NO husband (either never married, husband died, divorced), NO children (therefore no grandchildren), NO siblings, NO living parent. THESE are the single women who are to be taken care of by the Church. This is the position that I'm in. But, I'll keep working part time with a work-from-home job and make/sell homemade soaps to add to my Social Security for as long as I'm able.

I've seen some women in churches try to take advantage of this. Sure their husband died. But, they were left a lot of money or pension to live comfortably on, a house, grown kids and grand kids to do their lawn work and repairs, etc. Yet, they'll run to their church to try and get them to pay a light bill or pay for a new roof on their house. Most pastors are wise though and call up their children to go help their mother.

Christ is mentioned and called by many names from Genesis through Revelation. Remember......David said, "The Lord said to my Lord." Psalm 110:1 :)
