Democrats Falsely Claim Jesus was a Socialist

From evince's wiki link on overpopulation:

"The University of Nebraska publication Green Illusions argues that population control to alleviate environmental pressures need not be coercive. It states that "Women who are educated, economically engaged, and in control of their own bodies can enjoy the freedom of bearing children at their own pace, which happens to be a rate that is appropriate for the aggregate ecological endowment of our planet."[159] The book Fatal Misconception by Matthew Connelly similarly points to the importance of supporting the rights of women in bringing population levels down over time."

I don't think that is correct, because education is very sparse among the very poor around the world. Yes, that is happening in America to some degree, but even we have not ended our population expansion. The more affluent are more likely to limit propagation but the impoverished have not gotten the message. Part of their problem is they constantly have too many mouths to feed and that keeps them poor. Also, they reach child bearing age before they acquire the wisdom to make wise decisions regarding childbirth, and they lack good parenting and good public education. They can even see it as a 'career choice' since the government cuts checks to unwed mothers, and those growing up in 'overlooked stunted economic pockets' (ghetto areas) see few other options nor opportunities.

Hello Stretch,

Thanks, but I do not require your permission. My faith is strong. I am comfortable talking about it. There is no reason for me not to be talking about faith. Faith can mean more than pertaining to religion. Most people talk about faith like it always means belief in God, but the religious do not own the word. No other word describes my love for humanity like faith does. The religious association is actually the second definition of the word. The primary definition is a strong belief in someone or something. That is exactly what I have. Faith. I can't prove what I believe, so I have to take it on faith, and faith is what I have. It makes sense to believe that humanity will be OK. I understand it could end. I want to avoid that. I think most humans do. That's why I have faith we will avoid destroying ourselves. I believe we will figure it out, we will endure. I have to. To believe otherwise would be defeatist.

We can do this. I believe we can. I want to do what I can to make it happen. We will survive, endure and advance the human race. That's my faith. Put out positive energy and it comes back to you. Be positive, spread positive ideas, share visions for improving the human condition, other will do the same. Together we make this happen. We are part of the collective. We advance ourselves by working together, not by fighting. It is only logical. It is really very simple logic.

Logic and faith are not related. Put your faith in whatever you like...temporal objects & ideas that pass away or change with each generation. Or, faith in God who is constant, consistent and eternal.

Any reasonable reading of the teachings of Jesus...not only heads in the direction of socialism...but of COMMUNISM. It is okay, American conservatives...you can acknowledge that the progressive agenda is MUCH, MUCH closer and aligned with the teachings of Jesus...than is the American conservative agenda.

It won't hurt.

Hard to believe we are even having this argument in the year 2018.

You know who still complains about "socialism", commies, Bolsheviks, and Marxists?
Yep, old rightwing farts well north of the age 55.

Cold war relics. Red Scare dinosaurs.

The word "Socialism' was a catch all phrase used by the rightwing and the oligarchy to demonize any kind of progressive reform. From Medicare, to civil rights, to Social Security, to public infrastructure spending. Basically, anything that did not comport with the conservative oligarchy's interests was going to be branded as "socialist". Anytime you see a rightwing poster here complaining about socialists and commies, and other archaic and outdated Cold War terminology you can safely assume they are between 70 to 80 years of age.

Polling has conclusively demonstrated that Millenialls and Gen Xers who came of age post-Cold War do not carry around this Cold War-baggage that elderly righwingers do. Socialism is not an evil word to them, and the success of democratic socialism in Scandinavia and northern Europe is on everyone's radar. And in some respects "Capitalism" is a word with darker connotations to people who are not in the demographic that wears Depends adult undergarments.

With all due respect good sister, that's a misreading of his words and actions, imo.

“If your brother becomes poor and cannot maintain himself with you, you shall support him as though he were a stranger and a sojourner, and he shall live with you"

42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,
43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

His words were not just about helping your friends.

OK, yes. I was using 2Cor:8, regarding the collection for the poor saints in Jerusalem.

You are using Lev:25........Here we are talking about the Israelites.
35Now if your countryman becomes destitute and cannot support himself among you, you are to help him like a foreigner or temporary resident, so that he can continue to live among you. 36Do not take any interest or profit from him, but fear your God, that your countryman may live among you. 37You must not lend him your silver with interest or sell him your food for profit. 38I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan and to be your God.

And here you are talking about Matthew 25:31-46........

31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you did it to me.’

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ 44 Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ 45 Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ 46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

(Notice how even the ones at Christ's left also call Him LORD! They were the fake believers. Yikes!!!)

Matthew 7:21-23 New King James Version (NKJV)
I Never Knew You

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

That's not Christianity.

Jesus was all about the feels

Love was his message and master

he was a bleeding heart liberal just like me

Christ's encouragments to care for one another was specifically to the unity of fellow believers. Extrapolating that to be some kind of government roadmap of responsibilities is pure unadulterated heresy.

it works with all people

all we need to do is spend more resources on helping our fellow man instead of buying a new car every few years and wasting food

when peoples lives are more secure they choose to have fewer children because they can choose

offer something of value for sterilization

but NO FORCE

so you want religion tests before you help someone

Here in this particular passage He is saying, "...my brothers and sisters..." Believers in Christ are brothers and sisters of Christ, we believe Christ, we have the mind of Christ and our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit.

It almost goes without saying though that of course we are to mindful of the needs of all people, careful to show mercy and charity to non-believers because...after all.....we were shown mercy by "God who loved us while we were yet in sin." That's the Good News! :)

3 John 1:5
Beloved, it is a faithful thing you do in all your efforts for these brothers, strangers as they are,

FULL CONTEXT-These are brothers in the Lord from another church...
4I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. 5Beloved, you are faithful in what you are doing for the brothers, and especially since they are strangers to you. 6They have testified to the church about your love.

Acts 10:34
So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality,

FULL CONTEXT-Good News for Gentiles; salvation is offered to all, not just the Jews; so no partiality

34Then Peter began to speak: “I now truly understand that God does not show favoritism, 35but welcomes those from every nation who fear Him and do what is right. 36He has sent this message to the people of Israel, proclaiming the gospel of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.

Galatians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

FULL CONTEXT-Sons through Faith in Christ; all believers are one in Christ

26You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.

Jesus and his disciples practiced communality and during his years of preaching they counted on the kindness of others for their room and board.

Any deity that claims man has free will would not subscribe to socialism as it ultimately is the enemy of free will.

being charitable, and preaching for others to do the same is a hell of a long way away from giving a monopoly power to make your decision for you

just out of curiosity, do you believe those who say Jesus didn't exist are still one in Christ Jesus?......
