A coal baron in West Virginia kills 29 innocent workers, and gets a slap on the wrist.

Fuck the south. Inbred hillbilly rednecks only serve to waste space and oxygen.

I've criticized that p.o.s. Blankenship numerous times on this forum. Profits before people. I hope karma catches him when he least expects it.

Blankenship loves to sound all "patriotic" and insult anybody criticizing him a "un-american." The thing is, though, Blankenship is the one who killed 29 American workers and wants to keep this country dependent on fossil fuels instead of moving towards a healthier, more sustainable energy future. I think Blankenship is the real traitor here.

But he's a job creator, and climate change is a hoax, right?

    Bigot.

Blackenship, or the ruling, aren't very popular in WV, to put it mildly. Though he didn't 'kill' anyone and didn't intend to it was ultimately his responsibility for the unsafe work environment which led to the death of 29 coal miners.
Coup has started. First of many steps. Impeachment will follow ultimately~WB attorney Mark Zaid, January 2017

Because coal mining has always been such a clean, safe, environmentally-friendly activity, lol?

West by God Virginians would sell their sisters to anybody offering them a job, and you know it.

    Coal barons ?
You are aware it's no longer the 1800s right ?

The charges are appropriate and can be successfully prosecuted. Murder would be dismissed.

Please feel free to avoid the south. We find your kind distasteful.

Safety records were dismal. "...willful or gross negligence..." Yet Blankenship got away with it. People whose livelihoods depended on mining were less important than the bottom line.

In 2009, the company, Massey Energy, was fined a total of $382,000 for "serious" unrepentant violations for lacking ventilation and proper equipment plans as well as failing to utilize its safety plan properly.[29] In the previous month, the authorities cited the mine for 57 safety infractions.[30] The mine received two safety citations the day before the explosion, 600 in the preceding 18 months, and 1,342 in the preceding five years. The CEO of Massey Energy, Don Blankenship, has received criticism for his apparent disregard of safety.[25][31] The Upper Big Branch Mine-South, where the explosion occurred, has been in operation since October 1994.[32] Between 2000 and 2009, two fatalities occurred at this mine.[33]

In the previous year, 50 of the safety violations, more than 10%, were categorized as "unwarrantable failures to comply," which indicates willful or gross negligence; this was higher than the 2% national average.[34]

According to miners at Massey, many employees knew the Big Branch mine was hazardous; to protect themselves some experienced miners had left in months prior to the explosion.[24] One miner said mine officials "buy off judges and have political connections. They disregard safety rules; they get away with it. And most of all they work you to the bone."[24] Another miner said “When you work for Massey, you give your life to Massey.[24] According to the World Socialist Web Site, many of the mine's infractions prior to the explosion entailed a sharp increase in coal production.[24]

Appalachian coal miners enjoyed many wonderful benefits until "Obama killed their jobs", to hear Nurse Focker tell it.

Will you ask the next person who claims Democrats are the party of slavery that question?

    I'll understand if you don't.
