You are correct. The author I cited was wrong.

SO....thingy....is your gripe with the voting public or the candidates.....

Does the public have a right to vote ? Or are quite a few of them too ignorant to vote ?

Does anyone that aspires to elective office have a right to run ? Or only some of the 'special' ones......
    Put blame where it belongs
ATF decided it could not regulate bump stocks during the Obama administration.
It that time," the NRA wrote in a statement. "The NRA believes that devices designed to allow semiautomatic rifles to function like fully-automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations."
The ATF and Obama admin. ignored the NRA recommendations.

I'm just pointing out the problem. I don't have a solution as of yet.

Our elections aren't working. I do believe that a democracy like ours relies on an informed populace. We're just not that. We don't really understand trade, or healthcare, or the deficit. Most of these concepts are too big & time-consuming for the average working American, who is too busy to even give their own checkbook the time it needs.

I would wager that MOST people vote along the lines of who they simply like the best, or who they'd "rather have a beer with," or some other very inconsequential factor. We will never elect good leaders based on the considerations that most of us prioritize.

We need to convert to a single party socialist state.

No doubt, you are right.....its been a popularity contest for decades.....probably since the JFK/NIxon debates when Nixen just didn't have the persona on TV to give Kennedy a run
for his money.....lately its just become a 100% partisan contest.....at least until Trump came along.....now people are switching sides, both Dems and Repubs and are seeing the flaws
in candidates on both sides, or are just too pissed at all the elites in Washington.....

We keep lowering the voting age to allow the most immature 'adults' to participate.... thats one big mistake....
Teaching in HS and College ridiculous subjects and ignoring our own history, how our gov. works, and even who the hell our 'leaders' are or their duties.....etc...

The Trolls post #8 was interesting and worth reading but not much help in fixing the problem....

We've always recognized that democracy isn't perfect but no ones come up with something better as yet.....many voters have been bought off, many are partisan to a fault, and a vast
majority of the rest are just plain ignorant and disinterested....

Hillary the liar is more of the same with legalizing a foreign invasion by illegals - Trump will be a mini-revolution, maybe against 'the establishment' - Sanders a giant step toward a western style Communism - Cruz, ....well I don't know what the hell he would do.

    It ain't gonna be pretty.

What makes that any practicable difference than it is now....???....If your answer is nothing, then you're right.

To be perfectly accurate....your source has been wrong since Dec.18, in 1978 when one or more electors didn't vote according to his/her states wishes.....

I just used 1979 to be in the ballpark.....when your source become wrong. So I was off by less than 2 weeks, sue me.

Fuhrers are chosen by the rich, not the electorate, as your Supreme Court's reading of the Eighteenth Century Constitution makes clear. The voters merely endorse their choices.

What does the reading of your precious 19th Century manifesto tell you about how the choices should be?

Thingy is fine when they do what he wants. When they don't then it gets his cackles up. I think Trump would be a horrible President, but what he has done for the political process in smoking out the statists has been a joy to watch
