A non-denominational Minister married us and he filed the papers and the government issued a marriage certificate.
I dont know about where you are, but in Florida you have to apply for a Marriage liscence, there is a waiting period, then they issue it. Once its issued, you are free to get married.

It wasnt a protest. It was an "appreciation day", not to protest Chick Fil a but instead to show appreciation. The protest is today. The gays will be sacrificing by kissing each other at the restaraunts.

I'm in Canada. Both times I married the Minister looked after everything. The waiting period involved reading the banns which was three weeks. (Excerpt from a British site) Reading of Banns

Banns are an announcement in church of your intention to marry and a chance for anyone to put forward a reason why the marriage may not lawfully take place. Banns need to be read in the parish where each of you lives as well as the parish church in which you are to be married, if that is somewhere else. You must have your banns read out in church for three Sundays during the three months before the wedding. This is often done over three consecutive Sundays but does not have to be.(End) http://www.yourchurchwedding.org/you...-marriage.aspx

We have the option of a civil ceremony at a government office but the Minister comes to where one desires. The beach. A hotel room. Etc.

The question is, did your government properly confirm you consummated the marriage? Was this reported by your Church to them, or what? Did you and the missus have to give sworn testimony of the event, or did they take your word for it? Inquiring minds want to know!

And what about people who are married by the justice of the peace? I must have missed the episode of Andy Griffith where he had to confirm the married couple had consummated, so he could let the government know. Perhaps they are really just this fucked up in Canada? Do we have any other Canadians who can confirm the idiocy this fruitcake is espousing here?

why would liberal Canada require people who want to marry to have Banns announced in a church......or are you just pretending this is a requirement.....

If you love your parents, then you should trust them to give all of your garbage to your brother if you die without a will.

Wouldnt do anything for my brother and I. We are not gay.
So why do you want to marry him?

Aaaaaand what would be the reason that my brother and I cannot?
I don't see any reason you couldn't. Marrying your sister would have obvious negative connotations. Inbreeding creates children that grow up to be republicans.

Wasn't today supposed to be some kind of anti-Chick-Fil-A protest or "kiss-in" or something? Seems like the OP mentions something about the company "bracing for" this?

Word from a friend who's kid works at the Chick... it was pretty much business as usual today, they did have a fairly busy day as a lot of people came in saying they wanted to come 8-1, but the lines were too long.

Guess this kind of fizzled out on you, huh guys?
