Default Careful Pinheads... Don't blow your fingers off!

I have been pondering how it is, we have managed to find ourselves with half of this country behaving and acting like complete morons... how did we get here? Then today, I turned on the local news, to see what was going on besides the Olympics, and so... they are doing the routine story about fireworks safety, and how you shouldn't do this and that... etc..etc...etc... on and on... how many people are injured every year... blah blah blah... so make sure, when enjoying your celebrations, to remember these important safety tips... Anyway... this made me think.

Every year, we have the same stories about how to be safe... with your fireworks, christmas lights, leftover turkey... whatever... every year, we hear the same cautious warnings of what to avoid and what to make sure you do... year after stinking year... the same thing. At what point should we just throw our arms up and say; Ya know what? If you are so stupid you need for us to repeat this stuff again, then you go for it... go blow yourself up! We need fewer of your type on the planet! We've gone out of our way to protect the stupid from themselves for too long, society is 'self-cleaning' ...idiots do stupid things and either die or learn not to be stupid... we can't help stupid, we should get out of the way and let stupid happen.

Our whole entire problem as a nation is, we have nurtured the stupid!

    Happy 4th!

They could come to your house and shoot. I'd support that idea. Of course, you know to put away all flammable liquids in and around your home, right?

A friend tells me, she recently purchased a hair dryer, and on the label, it tells you.."DO NOT USE IN SHOWER OR BATH!"

Now........... really? .........We need this warning?

I think a better idea would be: We do not recommend using this electrical appliance in the shower or tub, but if you want to give that a try, we would love to hear how it turns out for you!

Rat Poison: We don't suggest you eat this, but if you do and think it's tasty, drop us a line!

Bug Spray: This is not intended to be sprayed in your eyes, but if you always wanted to be like Stevie Wonder.....?

Ooops... I gotta run... I have spent too much time in front of the monitor, my retinas need a 15-minute break from the rays!

Seriously though... you have to wonder about people who need an annual reminder from the local news, that fireworks are dangerous... that you shouldn't shower with your blow dryer... not to eat something that isn't food... How have these people managed to get this far? Have we enabled them somehow? Maybe we should STOP dishing out the warnings, and see if we can get rid of some?

I would enjoy seeing you kill yourself, seeing weakness leave the body of society, seeing this nation and society I love so wonderfully improved. Those who support eugenics type logic need to be purged, for the good of the species. They are the weak link.

I'm perplexed. Aside from the two or three threads on this topic, since when is it government intervention or whatever to advise the public of the dangers of fireworks or banning fireworks in areas beset by drought?

It's been like this all my life. Just because I know the dangers, doesn't mean Joe Six Pack has the common sense to watch what he's doing.

12.It should be particularly attended to, to avoid any and all mention of descriptive encounters with children. It is unacceptable to bring that onto the board in any context. Do not suggest encounters with another poster and a child, or with yourself and another poster's child.

Well, I know it's been like that your whole life... mine too! That was my point! How many times do we need to tell Joe Sixpack? Is Joe Sixpack even paying attention to the news? I mean, someone so stupid as to not realize you can blow your hand off with fireworks, is probably not watching, don't you figure? Just like the idiot who takes their blow dryer into the shower... probably aren't reading the warning labels on stuff... just a guess. Because, my whole life, it has been dangerous to take electrical appliances into the shower, and I have enough sense to not need a warning label to tell me.

I never said it was "government intervention" did I? As far as I know, local newscasts are not done by the government (are they?)

Now, with the drought conditions, I can understand having a little more precaution, but the particular news story I watched, didn't even mention the drought... it was about keeping a proper distance... supervising children... not picking up duds... etc. You know, the usual stuff most of us have heard our whole life. IF drought conditions are severe in your area, maybe they should ban fireworks completely? Because people who are too stupid to avoid blowing their hands off without a news report, are probably not bright enough to keep from setting accidental fires while doing so, don't you think?
