It's not credible. How do you not remember an incident like that? Is he memory-challenged?
One witness called it vicious. Hardly "hijinks," imo.
Mitt Romney apologized Thursday for what he described as "hijinks and pranks during high school," in response to a newspaper story that claimed he and other students pinned down a classmate and cut off his hair back in 1965.
The individual involved was gay, according to the Washington Post story, and was sporting bleached blond hair at the time.
Romney, though, told Fox News Radio Thursday he doesn't recall that specific incident, and certainly did not know the student was gay.
"I don't remember that incident," he said. "And I'll tell you I certainly don't believe that I ... thought the fellow was homosexual. That was the furthest thing from our minds back in the 1960s, so that was not the case."
But he acknowledged playing pranks and teasing other students, and apologized for those that went "too far" -- while noting he is "a very different person" now.
"Back in high school, you know, I did some dumb things and if anybody was hurt by that or offended, obviously I apologize," Romney said.

He remembers. This guy has no geniune bones. A genuine person wold have said they did it and they were very sorry for it, and they are a different person now. Tpm has an interesting piece up saying that the Romney campaign is trying to get old school chums of his to come forward and tell us all what a great guy he was. So far, no takers but one of them told the media he was a lord of the flies type guy. So this may actually get worse.

Just college pranks like Abu Grabass.

I would have denied it if I did it, because this nation is full of proles that would believe that something I did 40 years ago (almost half a century) has anything to do with who I am today. It's also completely irrelevant and pure propaganda. But I suppose it's coincidence they come out with this story the day after obama declares himself in favor of gay marriage.
Also the person was not confirmed gay. Did people even know what gay people were in the 60's? That's just the post's own op-eding. Go read it again, and you'll see the article itself doesn't make any definitive claim to the persons sexuality. It says "suspected by the students." The man died in 2004 but this could have been easily verified. If he was actually gay they would have said "romney beat up a gay kid half a century ago"
What you just read is a serious comment

Hi - can someone direct me on this? Is there a moderator or ADMIN around? As a 'noob' I cannot use the private message system, so I posted a thread in the 'announcements' section. Thanks!
um...he did say he was sorry and is a different person now. as to the veracity of his memory...i have no idea. if someone asked me about bullying or teasing someone in HS, i doubt i would remember. but if this incident is true...i would likely remember cutting someone's hair.
What do you think about the 12-hour road trip he took with his family and the dog crate (with dog Seamus), strapped to the roof of the car? Do you think that illustration of his judgment regarding that incident has any bearing today?
what do you think about putting a dog on airplane and sending it overseas?
Yay! More Yurt apologism for Romney...
If Romney snorted cocaine, it wouldn't bother me at all. Strapping his dog in a crate to the roof of the car for a terrifying twelve-hour road trip demonstrates disturbing callousness towards the animal. Then he lied about the story, as did his wife, which is yet another disturbing facet.
