Question How can Obama be blamed for rising gas prices?

Domestic production of oil and natural gas has risen every year he has been in office, making the United States a net exporter of energy.

Will the ignorant Righties who blame hims for high prices now give him credit when and if they come down?

Newt Gingrich, struggling to regain momentum in the Republican presidential primary, is promising to get prices down to $2.50 per gallon.

Every time prices start to go up, especially in an election year, politicians dust off their three point plans for $2 gas.

I guess this year they decided we're going to make it $2.50.

They head down to the gas station. They make sure a few cameras are following them. And then they start acting like "we've got a magic wand, and we will give you cheap gas forever -- if you just elect us". Every time. Been the same script for 30 years. It's like a bad re-run.

"Political rhetoric is all it is," said Guy Caruso, an economist who led the Energy Information Administration and worked as an analyst at the Central Intelligence Agency. "Short of price controls, which were a disaster during the Nixon administration, politicians can't do much to change the price of gasoline," he said.

We will continue to blame Obama for the high gas prices, he is the president, just as democrats blamed Bush when he was in office.

Here is a thought to reducing the gas prices, drop the federal, state and local tax that is charged to the consumers.

Explain how they plan to gain the revenues when it is a usage tax and the oil is exporting? You pay the tax at the pump and the government makes far far more than the "evil oil companies" on its sale.
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

just the other day, I got a 70 cent a gallon discount on filling up the tank of my car due to accumulated grocery store points. i'm sure that the government could drop 95% of their taxes on gasoline to drop prices and still make revenue.

You are correct. Yet Webby would deprive governments of that revenue to benefit consumers. How's that supposed to work?

I'm sure you can explain how "the government could drop 95% of their taxes on gasoline to drop prices and still make revenue".

    Go ahead.

He could also get the credit or the largest economic boom in 50 years. Ten years ago oil companies thought domestic elephant fieds were all found. Now elephant after elephant of billion barrel fields are discovered. Now open both coast and Alaska. No more imported oil, and millions of high paying jobs. Fact

Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Republican Congressional leaders like John Boehner have decided that high gas prices are the key to their defense against President Obama and the Democrats -- and they have decided that building the Keystone XL Pipeline is the symbol of their commitment to bringing down gas prices through "drill, baby drill" strategies.

Even if I'm wrong and world oil prices don't go down. It's illogical to argue against the increased high paying jobs, impact on imported oil, and the unemployment rate. Sure turbo-libs will fund jihad before inconveniencing the carrabu.
