    Default Skip the prostate exam

    http://www.latimes.com/health/la-he-...,4483814.story

Don't worry guys. Even though 30% of men will develop a prostate problem, you don't need to bother yourself with those tests. Just pay your insurance and deal with the cancer when you get it.

Key panel will urge men to skip prostate screening, reports say
The task force that sets federal disease prevention policies reportedly will recommend that men under age 75 forgo PSA screening as a routine test for prostate cancer.

    Hooray for death panels.

You forgot to mention the real reason for the recommendation, even though it's in the story you linked.

I wonder if you also neglected to protest years ago, when the PSA test was excluded for men over 75. But since Bush was president then, you had no motivation, did you?

"Studies have shown that PSA screening detects more prostate cancers but does not lower death rates from the disease. Though some cases of prostate cancer are aggressive, others are so slow-growing that treatment is unnecessary.

Only a biopsy can confirm the presence of cancer. A European study published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2009 found that about 1,400 men would need to be screened and 48 treated to prevent one death from the disease
    ."

PSA tests often lead to unnecessary surgery which carries significant risks of impotence and incontinence - although if you already suffer from both, it's no wonder you don't worry about that.

Is it possible that urologists and labs are concerned about lower revenues if fewer men have the test?

You must be sad that other men don't share your fondness for having things shoved up your ass.
