Default MORE Rightie hypocrisy? Say it ain't so!

Hypocritical Righties own words used to highlight their duplicity:

House Oversight Committee chair Rep. Darrell Issa’s (R-CA) investigation of clean energy loan programs was undercut this week by a revelation, first reported by Bloomberg, that he had also requested money from the same program for companies in his district. A follow-up story by ThinkProgress found that an investor to the firm Issa had asked to subsidize had donated several times to Issa, including a check just shortly before Issa sent his letter to Secretary Chu.

Today on the Senate floor, Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) mocked Issa’s hypocrisy. She carried with her copies of the letters signed by Issa, as well as other letters by Republicans asking for money for the clean energy program they had just voted to cut, and read them into the Congressional Record:

LANDRIEU: He’s a member from California, he’s a very powerful member of the House. I’m going to read his whole letter. [...] And maybe the press even writes, ‘Darrell Issa, the Republican leader, is promoting manufacturing in California.’ Because this is what he says in his district. And this is the letter he sends to the Secretary. But when he’s in the floor of the House last night, he voted to gut this program. That’s what this debate is about!

Earlier this week, Republicans tried to make hay out of the Solyndra controversy by taking an axe to clean energy programs. Landrieu made short work out of the GOP’s shameful gimmick.

Landrieu continued tearing into Republican hypocrisy. She noted that the cuts were purely political because the supposed offsets for FEMA only required $175 million, not $1 billion. She then continued to read Republican letters asking for clean energy loan cash, including yet another one signed by Issa (asking for money for battery-maker Quallion LLC):

LANDRIEU: I’m going to do this all week, so I hope the press gets ready to ask these Republican leaders how could you possibly have the gall to hold press opportunities in your district promising people that you’re helping them to create jobs and then come back to Washington and cut the rug out from under their feet with a bogus excuse that you have to come up with a billion dollars [...] when the real need for FEMA in 2011 is $175 million. But under the guise of having to provide a billion dollars, they want to gut this program that’s creating jobs and they themselves have asked for these loans to be made in their district. [...]

Several members, and I am going to submit their names to the record [...] In addition — this is the killer, this is the killer — in addition Quallion think that this funding will create more than two thousand three hundred new and long-term jobs nationwide. And this is the program that Representative Cantor decided to use as an offset so he could fool the American people.

So... once Issa took money from them, he should have agreed to dole out billions of taxpayer dollars to them, because that was why he took money from them... but he didn't do that, he remained determined to reduce government spending instead.... so he's a hypocrite!

    Got it!

Remember when the poor lil' rich boy (his net worth has been estimated at more than $300 million, making him the richest member of Congress) said 9/11 "simply was an aircraft" when he voted against helping sick and dying first responders?

"It's very simple: I can't vote for additional money for New York if I can't see why it would be appropriate to do this every single time a similar situation happens, which quite frankly includes any urban terrorist. It doesn't have to be somebody from al Qaeda. It can be someone who decides that they don't like animal testing at one of our pharmaceutical facilities. It simply was an aircraft, residue of the aircraft and residue of the materials used to build this building".

Issa spokesman Frederick Hill said his boss opposes any federal effort to continue funding the now-expired victims' fund, because the case has not been made for "which unique factors make this different from wildfires in California".

So the nation helping those whose health was ruined by their heroism on Sept. 11 is 'socialist'?

Thanks, Dix for helping your party look even worse.

To date, more money has been donated to help the families victimized by 9/11 than any other US disaster, except Katrina. To sit here and pretend these people were not helped, is one of the biggest lies you've told since you've been here, and you've told some whoppers.

Our Government is not the Salvation Army or Red Cross... it's not there to jump to the aid of anyone in crisis at any time, and it can't serve that function.... there isn't enough money to do so. This is why charity organizations exist, and why they are vital to our nation in times of need. Your continued failure to grasp this concept, is much of the problem liberal democrats will face in the coming elections.

You must don't know where you are. This is America. We're special. We're different. We help, when no one else will. Thank God, you don't get to decide, who, when, where, or how much.

You're right, we are special and different and we do help, when no one else will, and more than anyone else ever has. But you are wrong that I don't have a choice, I can decide who to help and when, and so can you and everyone else, that's what makes us such a great nation, it's called "freedom" and I'm glad we have that. You see, I don't get to decide who YOU are going to help... you can make that decision on your own, and you will give me the same right to free choice... this system has proven to work, better than anything anyone else has ever come up with. Like you said, we help when no one else will, we step up to the plate... we don't need GOVERNMENT to do it for us!

And you couldn't be more wrong. What is it about the government that you hate? Because, see, if you weren't "forced" to help, you wouldn't help. And that's the point. The very folks claiming to be Christians and Americans are the very ones who act most un-Christian and anti-American.

Of course that's not accurate, but since when can ANY of this board's Righties be expected to deal in anything even approaching the truth?

Issa told his constituents back home he was promoting manufacturing in California. Issa took money from an investor in one of the businesses Issa wanted to subsidize.

He told his constituents and the investor that the money would be used to create jobs back home.

Now he wants to gut the very program he told his constituents would create jobs for them.

I fully expect some sort of deflection or perhaps an outright derailment courtesy of Yurskin, so let's get it over with...

The POINT is, I DO help... I'll bet you all of your government paycheck, that I give more to charity each year than you do. I've been doing this my whole life, I believe it is my duty and personal responsibility to help my fellow man, and I feel guilty if I don't. The POINT is, that's how we should all be, and how most of us are. Now, the people who AREN'T charitable, are Liberals such as yourself, who had rather find fulfillment through giving away other people's money instead of your own.

Oh, and DON'T lecture me about being "un-Christian" you sack of human excrement, you wouldn't know Christian behavior if it was sitting in your lap calling you momma!

What a lying little pissant you are.

Link up to a post of mine that says I "pretend these people were not helped".

In fact, they were helped, without the votes of lying Republicans who wrapped themselves in the flag after 9/11 and then voted to deny care to the heroes who put their lives on the line on 9/11 and after.

Issa and his fellow GOP hypocrites lost. Read it and weep:

Not only are you dishonest, you're piss-ignorant.

Sucks to be a lying loser like Dix-lie.
