Only for a week, but at least someone other than those mouth-breathers in GA will get a chance to review the case.
The execution of Troy Davis was delayed temporarily by the US supreme court on Wednesday night in a dramatic intervention just as he was due to be put to death by lethal injection.
The last-minute decision caused confusion outside the prison in Jackson, Georgia, where family, supporters and civil rights campaigners broke into celebration as they believed the court had granted Davis a stay of execution.
But it quickly emerged that the delay was only temporary, while the justices considered whether to issue a stay.
Until that moment it seemed almost certain that Davis would be executed, as the Georgia supreme court had rejected a last-ditch appeal by Davis's lawyers over the 1989 murder of off-duty policeman Mark MacPhail, for which Davis had been sentenced to death despite overwhelming evidence that the conviction is unreliable.
A Butts County superior court judge had also declined to stop the execution.

wtf? i thought it was supposed to be delayed by a week..
He was executed at 11:08 EST.
In other news the white trash supremicist piece of shit in Texas who dragged the brother to his death was executed tonight in Texas. I don't know if people were out protesting for that scumbag but his ass is gone.
They didn't get the memo, apparently.
Too bad... so sad... another pinhead bites the big one!
Sorry, can't feel sorry for the guy... I think he was guilty as charged and it's a travesty the family and taxpayers have had to deal with his sorry ass for the past 22 years, while he exhausted every attempt at appeal. Liberals don't really give a shit about the details of this case or justice, the guy had black skin and was convicted of killing a white police officer, that's all they need to know. It just automatically stands to reason with a Lib that he was innocent, framed by racist white authorities, and wrongly convicted (and executed.)

I think I'm going to have to go on a hunger strike and kill myself over this. Hopefully, you can all enjoy my death as much as you enjoyed his.

I have a hard time seeing executions as justice. Especially if there is any question of the person's guilt.
Surely, as a society, the measure of our own worth is less about celebrations of death and more about our mercy.

Further proof if proof was necessary that America has a long way to go before it can call itself a civilised community.
Seven of nine witnesses recanted but still you KILLED him. You killed this man, everyone of you! And leaders of the bloodthirsty scum on this forum?
Who but the men whose minds are closed tighter than a ducks arse and who represent the very bottom of your society.
AND THEY CALL THEMSELVES CHRISTIAN!
What revolting pieces of shit they are to be sure.
How many people have YOU killed, Dixie?
How many people have YOU killed, Bravo?
There are no words that adequately express the disgust we feel. Georgia forever on my mind!

If you feel so inclined a comment would be appreciated.
Respect a believers right to believe, but they should damn well repect our right to challenge such utterly illogical notions.
Recanted? After how long? After how much cajoling from the black community to reconsider what they saw?Seven of nine witnesses recanted but still you KILLED him.
I have known police officers all my life, and one thing I can tell you about that 'brotherhood'... if someone kills one of their own, they are going to bring that individual to justice, they won't be satisfied with, or settle for, anything less. To suggest that they would rush to blame it on an innocent man, is unthinkable and unrealistic to believe. They did a thorough investigation, gathered evidence, made a case, and convicted the man with a majority black jury.
Here, let me help explain it to you Low... You are a Libbie.. and he is a black man who killed a cop... so it stands to reason you have to be on his side and see this as some inequality or social injustice... no doubt, perpetrated by evil racist white men... and the beat goes on!
