A 51-year-old Eden Township man died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds Friday afternoon.

Sheriff's Office detectives found Daniel Furgye dead Friday. Officials said he had been alone shooting around a pond.

Without a Coroner's Office investigation, it's unclear whether the shooting was accidental or intentional...

A Muncie man was recovering from emergency surgery at a Fort Wayne hospital Sunday after having accidentally shot himself at a gun range.


Joel Dale, 52, was in stable condition two days after the incident.


Dale was with a friend when his SKS semi-automatic rifle discharged several times. Two shots went through Dale's abdomen, and the Muncie man was taken by medical helicopter to the Fort Wayne hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition.

A 38-year-old Collierville mother was charged Tuesday afternoon with reckless endangerment after her 17-year-old son shot his 15-year-old sister Saturday using their mother's gun.


The girl remains in serious condition at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis.


The incident occurred Saturday at the family's home.

Ward told officers she gave her son her 9mm Luger to "play with" and to make sure the magazine was fully loaded for the next time she carried it.


The teenage boy took the magazine out and then pointed the gun at his sister, the report said.

There was apparently a bullet in the chamber, police said.

The girl was sitting on the other end of the couch next to her boyfriend. She was shot in the upper back...

A 59-year-old woman from Onalaska accidentally shot herself while taking a firearm class.

The woman was practicing drawing a firearm from a concealed holster.

When she put the gun back in the holster, the 9 mm pistol discharged.

Two young girls, kidnapped from Tennessee after their sister and mother were killed, were found alive in a wooded area in Mississippi, authorities said.


Adam Mayes, the man accused of the slayings and kidnappings, died Thursday after shooting himself, the FBI said.



"Preliminary reports indicate that Mr. Mayes shot himself in the head and was pronounced dead," said Daniel McMullen, FBI special agent in charge in Jackson, Mississippi.

A man who had barricaded himself in a residence after an alleged domestic call, has been shot and killed by police Thursday morning, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.




Timothy Hauck, 47, was shot after reports he threatened suicide and refused to come out of the home at 702 Royal Oaks in Columbia for several hours.




Police went to the home on Wednesday night, according to the TBI.




The TBI will investigate the shooting....

A man and woman are accused of trying to cover up the accidental shooting of a 7-year-old girl.

Police said Tangie Jackson and her boyfriend, Ricky Singleton, created an elaborate lie in an attempt to fool investigators.

Police said the girl and her 3-year-old sibling found Singleton's gun inside their home on West North Bend Road.

The gun accidentally went off and the older girl was shot in the back, police said.According to the police report, Singleton hid the gun in a closet.

Police said he then ordered the children, including the victim, to walk half a mile from home before he called 911.

Singleton ordered the children to tell investigators they were injured during a drive-by shooting, police said.

Two people -- including a 26-year-old Bluffton woman -- were found dead late Friday in a ditch outside a home on Purrysburg Road in Hardeeville, according to authorities.

The bodies of Desmond Brown, 25, of Hardeeville, and his girlfriend, Octavia Scott, 26, of Bluffton were found with gunshot wounds to their heads

A Corpus Christi woman was arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 30-year-old man in her apartment Sunday morning.

Police responded about 11 a.m. to the shooting, Officer Kirk Stowers said in a police report.

Autopsies show a gunshot wound to the head was the cause of death for a man and his estranged wife, a case that authorities continue to investigate as a murder-suicide.




The preliminary autopsy results are consistent with the police statement that the man apparently shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself, the deputy coroner said.


The couple were pronounced dead at about 4:40 p.m. Saturday.
