Default Why Liberals and the Main Stream media keep talking about Palin.

Because Obama has been such a trainwreck they want to focus on Palin trying to make it seem like it could even be worse. I bet if Obama were doing well Palin would be ignored by the media and Liberals.

    That's a fairly flawed theory.

First, I disagree with the "trainwreck" characterization; I'm sure we could start another 200 response thread on that one, so it's probably useless to debate here.

Second, she was the subject of intense focus not just in the campaign, but at the start of the Obama admin, and throughout the year, as well (which, presumably, includes times that were "pre-trainwreck", if we accept that characterization for the purposes of the discussion).

In short, she's a media lightning-rod, regardless. There's just something about Palin...

Fair assessment Lorax. Something about Sarah Palin attracts the media...and several individuals. Not just men to her looks either (she's too old for me anyway ) but women like my wife are crazy about her.

When you think about it, there just aren't a lot of political figures out there right now who are that charismatic & camera-friendly.

She's the only one I see on the right who inspires any kind of reaction among the faithful that could be described as "mania." She's still a frontrunner for 2012, and still has a level of adoration which no one else comes close to.

That, more than anything, is why the left is still obsessed w/ her, imo...

Yes The One is a train wreck, but the media hates conservatives, especially ones that have a good shot at the presidency against The Chosen One.

If some Palin stories were at all positive that would be one thing but since they are all negative the only thing that makes sense is they are trying to distract from the real boob who's actually in power. Seriously it's a main news story on the networks cause she had scribbled on her hand for a speech.

I'm not saying that you're wrong, just that its not the complete answer. Sometimes the simple answers suffice: they hate her because she's a threat to them.

There is the old argument that "we're obsessed with her because we fear her."

I can't really deny that; the prospect of a Palin Presidency is extremely frightening to me, and stranger things have happened in American history.

If an enumerated powers act was passed and enforced you'd be scared worse.

The media cover Palin because it is easy. Real reporting is hard.

The question is "why shouldn't liberals and the MSM talk about Palin?"

We don't talk about Giuliani, Romney, McCain, Huckabee, Kucinich, Richardson et al. because when their 15 minutes of fame was over, they gave up the spotlight, went back to their homes and jobs and stopped speaking out about Obama.

Palin gave up her job and embraced the spotlight by taking a position with the Fox News channel. She uses that platform to bash the current administration regularly, and to keep her finger in the wind regarding a presidential run in 2012.

People in the public eye get watched. People in the public eye who speak about controversial viewpoints get watched, criticized, agreed with or refuted. Taking a public role as Obama's gadfly was Palin's choice.

So once again, why shouldn't we talk about her?

She's no different from any partisan commentator, left or right, but for some reason we're supposed to treat her with kid gloves.

That hand-writing is like the winking and "shout out" she did during the debate. Nothing intrinsically wrong but it makes her look silly and immature.
