What are you going to do, we live in a country made up of idiots. That's become crystal clear. Thanks to this shitty economy I see no quick way out, but I want out by the time I'm 50. I don't want to die here, surrounded by this inanity, this insipidness, this stupidity.
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

Believe nothing on the faith of traditions, even though they have been held in honor for many generations and in diverse places. Do not believe a thing because many people speak of it. Do not believe on the faith of the sages of the past. Do not believe what you yourself have imagined, persuading yourself that a God inspires you. Believe nothing on the sole authority of your masters and priests. After examination, believe what you yourself have tested and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto.

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

There are decent and funny people are here but some just refuse to accept the reality of the days we are living in.
So are we griping about he president's salary and perks or are we griping about the media talking about people griping about the president's salary and perks or about the people themselves who are griping about the president's salary and perks.
We are gripping at the attempt to make hey over something that everyone agrees is necessary to allow the president to do his job fully.
The idiotic distraction that the republicans use to keep from doing their real job.

If that is truly the case then I find myself in agreement with you and Darla (gasp!!). It is stupid for them to even bring this up.
I will not blame the "idiotic" republicans en masse because I am not sure that all of them feel the way "corporate America"* does, who were the ones mentioned in the article. In fact I know many of them who do not, along with several level-headed democrats.
*"Corporate America quickly pointed out that while the president also only makes $400,000 a year, he gets all sorts of extra perks and doesn't have to pay taxes on them."
Unfortunately many of our government officials, both dems and reps, are in the pocket of corporate America.
these tools are comical, give them another shovel they want their own grave to be deeper.
