Mushroom Cloud Condi: "No Memory of CIA Warning of Attack"

    Monday, October 2, 2006 2:48 PM EDT
    The Associated Press

SHANNON, Ireland (AP) — Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said she cannot recall then-CIA chief George Tenet warning her of an impending al-Qaida attack in the United States, as a new book claims he did two months before the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

I never knew it went out of fashion. "I can't recall" and "I don't think anyone ever imagined" have always been Condi's favorite sentence beginning clauses...

But it peaked during the reagn/bush era.
Nobody remembered anything about Iran Contra.
And many of the same players are scattered about the bush Administration.

What's sad about this is, it's been confirmed. The lying bitch was briefed and warned about it:

JIDDA, Saudi Arabia, Oct. 2 — A review of White House records has determined that George J. Tenet, then the director of central intelligence, did brief Condoleezza Rice and other top officials on July 10, 2001, about the looming threat from Al Qaeda, a State Department spokesman said Monday.

But the Republican Pedophile scandal is kind of burying this.

And in the long run I think that this, and the suspension of Habeas Corpus are the more important stories.

There is however a connection between the two scandals however tenuous, both Hastert and Rice are beginning their sentences today with "I don't recall." Coincidence? I don't know. Perhaps they will both be checking into alcoholic rehabilitation for their faulty memories and their lack of action on specific issues and their unwillingness to take the initiative when their respective jobs were on the line, and in Rice's case when the nation's welfare and the lives of the 3,000 people killed in 9-11 were on the line. Shame on her and she just said the other day in a post I posted here that Bush had done more than Clinton...

Well, she did admit that the "idea' of her getting this warning and not doing anything about it, and in fact, forgetting about it to the point where she denied it ever happened before official State Dept records kinda jogged her memory, was "incomprehensible".

So I think the problem is that she is finding it so incomprehensible, which means "impossible to understand" and that's what's giving the poor girl trouble. She might figure, shit, if I, with my PhD can't comprehend this, what are the chances your average American is going to comprehend it? Probably around zero. And if your average American can't comprehend it, then they ignore it, so it's kind of like it never happened. So in a way, she is telling the truth.

Records Show Tenet Briefed Rice on Al Qaeda Threat

Officials now agree that on July 10, 2001, Mr. Tenet and his counterterrorism deputy, J. Cofer Black, were so alarmed about an impending Al Qaeda attack that they demanded an emergency meeting at the White House with Ms. Rice and her National Security Council staff.
