My understanding is the Trump campaign to overturn the election began before the election. Trump wanted to stay in power and was accepting ideas on how to do so before November 2020.

His announcement of a rally in DC wasn’t spontaneous. It was part of an overall campaign to seize control of the US government by any means possible.
