I am receptive to discussing legal immigration and illegal immigration in a rational way.
But the veneer of hyperbole and prejudice on the right, and frankly no small dose of reactionary and
self righteous posturing from the left makes the perspicuity and honesty required to begin discussion impossible.
Without a basic framework of shared reality, discussion is pointless save pointing that out.

Sometimes I watch Fox News. Sometimes I watch CNN. I listen to PBS. I read voraciously. And I come here to see what delusional people are posting so I can refute it. Because I can always refute it. You are a perfect example. You say 'illegal immigrants are spreading the virus'. I point out that there are hundreds of times more unvaccinated Republicans than the TOTAL number of immigrants that have been allowed into the country. Your response is to attack a government source. What you can't do is provide an alternative source. So the only assumption I can make is that you are just parroting something you heard in your crazed right wing bubble without understanding the facts behind it. You have done absolutely nothing to disabuse that assumption. You just stopped responding as soon as you were asked for the source of your numbers.
What you watch makes no difference. What you do with the information you get from various sources is what matters. What YOU do is swallow what you hear when it reinforces your beliefs, and reject it when it doesn't. You are not concerned in the least with the veracity of a source. I am. That's why you will never, ever, best me in an objective discussion. I am simply much smarter than you. You could learn, but you revel in your ignorance. You wear it like a badge of honor. There are a dozens of you posting on this site, and there is no sunlight between your positions. None. You have swallowed every single thing you've heard hook, line, and sinker.
