And so it begins: open Civil War has broken out in the GOP

The divided GOP, I think the probability of that increases. Cheney Republicans will vote for a Democrats instead of Trumpublicans. This divide is bad for the GOP, it serves the Democrats.

Agreed. The Republicans are setting themselves up for losing both the 2022 and 2024 elections.

Although I doubt many Republicans will actually vote for Democrats, the Democrats will likely win by default as more former Republicans like myself vote Libertarian or some other third party.

Hold on - Cheney Republicans are never going to vote for a Democrat, so don't pin your hopes on that.

What they will do is just not vote. That's what we want from them; a commitment to stay at home until the GOP gets their act together.

We don't need to include Liz Cheney in our tent.

Liz Cheney just came out saying she regrets having voted for Trump. Sure sounds like she isn't going to vote for any repub who supported the shithead.

Correct. Now we have repubs playing the Jan 6 attack as "just like another daily tour group". Republicans with any sense whatsoever must be looking at this, and recounts in AR, replacing Cheney with Stefanik and saying "ok, enough, I can't be associated with these assholes".

That's a classic Chico Marx "Are you going to believe me or your lying eyes" defense.

Graham insisted that “Trump plus” is the future for the GOP, and getting rid of him would only hurt the party:

“If you try to drive him out of the Republican party, half the people will leave. It doesn’t mean you can’t criticize the president. It means the Republican party cannot go forward withident Trump being part of it.”out President Trump being part of it.”

the party must choose between Lady Fingers and sanity...........they're fucked because they're already batshit crazy

Hail King Trump..........and good luck morons!

Graham had it right when he publicly called trump a fucking idiot. Then as a typical repub after he won he was his hero. Disgusting.

More than 100 Republicans, including some former elected officials, are preparing to release a letter this week threatening to form a third party if the Republican Party does not make certain changes, according to an organizer of the effort.

The statement is expected to take aim at former President Donald J. Trump’s stranglehold on Republicans, which signatories to the document have deemed unconscionable.

“When in our democratic republic, forces of conspiracy, division, and despotism arise, it is the patriotic duty of citizens to act collectively in defense of liberty and justice,” reads the preamble to the full statement, which is expected to be released on Thursday.

The effort comes as House Republican leaders are expected on Wednesday to oust Representative Liz Cheney of Wyoming from their ranks because of her outspoken criticism of Mr. Trump’s election lies.

The list of people signing the statement includes former officials at both the state and national level who once were governors, members of Congress, ambassadors, cabinet secretaries, state legislators and Republican Party chairmen, Mr. Taylor said.

Mr. Taylor declined to name the signers. Reuters reported earlier that the former governors Tom Ridge of Pennsylvania and Christine Todd Whitman of New Jersey will sign it, as will former Transportation Secretary Mary E. Peters and former Representatives Charlie Dent of Pennsylvania, Barbara Comstock of Virginia, Reid Ribble of Wisconsin and Mickey Edwards of Oklahoma.

Mr. Taylor declined on Tuesday to reveal the specific changes that the coalition was planning to demand of the Republican Party in its statement.

“I’m still a Republican, but I’m hanging on by the skin of my teeth because how quickly the party has divorced itself from truth and reason,” Mr. Taylor said. “I’m one of those in the group that feels very strongly that if we can’t get the G.O.P. back to a rational party that supports free minds, free markets, and free people, I’m out and a lot of people are coming with me.”

I hope to be in this party a republican must agree to publicly state that Trump lost. Most trumplicans would not vote for a republican that made such a statement. Slim chance a republican will win re-election without trumplicans.

I disagree, many crossed over to vote for Biden. If a Trumpublican wins a primary, they will vote Democrat. I have already seen a lot of them stating so on Twitter.

I know a number of republicans that became completely disgusted with trump and republicans after Jan 6. Now with more of them saying Jan 6th was nothing their disgust does nothing but grow. They won't vote for anyone who supports Trumps lies.

With a zero interest rate, endless quantitative easing, and 4 bailouts in 30 years, a chimp could keep the economy buoyant. No one can predict when a systemic collapse will come but all economists and historians know it's close. The federal reserve is insolvent. Who is going to bailout the fed? Not to mention the derivative debt.

All economists? How about naming 5? How about a single link to this collapse from a reputable source?

From my perspective, we don’t need Cheney and watered down republicans fucking up the Democratic Party anymore than it already is. Let them kill each other without putting democratic ideals at risk.

Republicans haven’t won the popular vote in 40 years. Why do we need them?

Cheney bears responsibility for the rise of trump and her own demise. Why would we invite that into the Democratic Party?

No one says invite her into the democratic party. That's not saying they won't welcome her vote.:)

I completely agree with that. The Lincoln Project put out FAR better ads against trump than the Democratic Party did, but don’t be confused. Their issue was trump and trump only. They did not put out ads promoting democratic ideals. It would be insane for democrats to join their civil war.

AND Good brother, lets not forget that democrats have our own version of a civil war going on as we speak. Centrists and progressives are the strange bedfellows we should be paying attention to. People like Nomad would like nothing more than to oust progressives from HIS party, which will leave democrats in the exact same shoes republicans find themselves in today.

We are winning and growing. Democratic Party identification today is higher than at any time in the last 10 years. Why fuck that up by sipping the same poison that’s killing the Republican Party that will no doubt be mixed with racism, sexism, and incredible ignorance?

It is only a matter of time. Both the black and Hispanic populations in this country are growing in number while the white population is not. They say by 2050 Hispanics will be the majority. It's like 85% of both of these groups vote democrat and it's obvious why. This means long before 2050 the republicans won't be winning any national elections. What the late John McCain said rings truer than ever, he said "if the republican party doesn't do something to court both the African American and the Hispanic, they are doomed".

The right makes it so obvious how bigoted and racist they are. They contend that we must increase our population or China will run away with becoming the world's superpower while crowds of people willing to bust their ass are at our southern border just dreaming about becoming Americans. What is the problem republicans? Are they the wrong color?

Check it out, there's still someone who believes the US is capitalist. I count 3 bailouts this millennia and we're only 20 years in.

You obviously don't know what capitalistic means because it has nothing to do with having a bailout.

I know a number of republicans that became completely disgusted with trump and republicans after Jan 6. Now with more of them saying Jan 6th was nothing their disgust does nothing but grow. They won't vote for anyone who supports Trumps lies.
I’ve seen a couple of my family members say they are done with Trump and his supporters. They will vote third party. One voted for Biden and he’s very happy with his vote, so far.

You have the history laid bare for you

Every single Republican President since Nixon has left behind an economy in tatters:

1. Nixon/Ford left behind runaway inflation, a recession, and oil embargo to Carter
2. Reagan left behind Black Monday, the S&L Scandal, and a recession to Bush the Elder
3. Bush the Elder left behind a recession to Clinton
4. Bush the Dumber left behind a recession to Obama
5. Trump left behind a pandemic and a recession to Biden

Sensing a pattern?

This is so obvious to anyone who cares to do the research. I think of this every time I hear repubs saying they are what's best for the country. They invariably fuck things up every time they get in office.

A bunch of know nothing RINOS making a stupid claim that only low IQ dumbasses in the Party of the Jackass, like you, buy into. 2022 is going to be harsh on you Fascistic assholes. :palm:

tenor.gif

You are the same asshole who proclaimed repeatedly that Trump was going to win re-election handedly and he got his ass kicked.

Obamacare came from a conservative think tank known as the Heritage Foundation. Dems had the house and a filibuster proof supermajority in the senate, yet we the people didn't even get a public option. If not for dems being sellouts, we could've had single-payer.

Republicans had zero power yet ended up with a giant give-away to insurance companies and big pharma. You can't make this shit up.

Obama wanted a public option but could not garner the votes. Don't worry, it's coming.
