Why the fuck would anybody want to do that.
Because it increasingly looks like this bug made in the Wuhan lab is going to kick our asses, enjoy the freedom to not mask while you can.
We the fully vaxxed are good till/unless this bug gets around the vaccines.
That is the point of the vaccines.

If true, that’s some nifty work by the genetic engineers. Plausible, but not likely, IMO. But as far as I’m concerned *everything* is still on the table. And I agree that WHO is untrustworthy and should be ignored since they are tied to Beijing.
Did you know that we are pretty sure that the 1918 bug did not mutate, at all?
This bug is mutating at very rapid speed, that is a huge problem.

Well, there were zero interventions at the time.
We know [all too well] that bacteria will evolve resistance to antibiotics and that increases in the use of antibiotics correlates with an increase in variants. That’s why bacterial infections that occur in hospitals often involve antibiotic resistant ‘super bugs’: there’s a large population of people on antibiotics in the hospital—you get the idea:
MERSA wouldn’t exist in the absence of antibiotics, for example. There’s actually an argument for allowing the pandemic to run its course without vaccines so we can arrive at a global herd immunity without creating variants. Natural immunity is better because of the complexity of the immune system: instead of the virus just having to clear one hurdle [a vaccine] it’s faced with a series of immune components. The immune system is ridiculously complex—apparently, for a reason. But even at that, viruses have been known to evolve around it. That’s why you have to get a different flu vaccine every year.
That’s probably why there were no 1918 variants. Or it could have evolved to a less virulent form and we just don’t know about it since viruses couldn’t be isolated at the time.
Does this mean Covid variants are a product of intelligent design? No, but it doesn’t rule it out either. If I had to wager, I’d say the virus is a product of gain of function experiments and it escaped from the virology lab in Wuhan.
It’s the simplest explanation and it explains everything. I like to keep things neat and tidy.

btw, really bad idea to let it run it's course.
That would result in mass death, overwhelmed hospitals, and likely a crashed economy.

Another 60K new cases yesterday.
The only reason hospitals are not overwhelmed right now is because of the vaccines.
I have to laugh about the right and vaccines.
Oh, back when Trump was claiming credit for it, it was the greatest thing for America.
But now that he's gone and it's time to get the shots, the right is suddenly anti-vax.
Go figure. Whatever suits the moment.
You can't make this stuff up.

Actually, the CDC, which recognizes the findings of the WHO, has said that fully vaccinated adults can safely gather outside in small groups without wearing masks.
The USA is making progress. It could be much better, but despite letting fools have the freedom to do risky things, risking the lives of others, we are making progress. Yesterday we had 42K New Cases. That's not good, but it sure beats the times when we had several hundred thousand New Cases per day. India had 392K New Cases in one day yesterday.
