I don't agree it is worthless, I just have serious doubts it is worth the cost and effort. Building the wall does not even take into consideration the eminent domain or cost of acquiring all the land necessary to build any structure. That has already been occurring for a few years and has a lot of cases in court. Some of the wall cuts across the middle of people's land, a golf course, and college campus. The is less of an emergency today than in the past. In 2000 there were 1.6 million apprehended vs about 300,000 today. Any emergency involves separating parents from children.

If we build it I am still holding out for Mexico to pay for it (and any trade deal does not do).

That includes more personnel and technology to keep illegals from crossing the border. That makes a person a racist who supports that policy because they are doing the same thing as person favoring the wall wants to do--to stop illegal immigration.

Those who use current technology want to keep out the SAME people as those supporting a wall; that makes both sides racist or not racist because they both have the same goal.

By pretending they are, you are trying to diminish the reasons they have for making the journey.

They're not coming to the US because job prospects in El Salvador are slim, they're coming to the US to escape the civil strife those countries are in thanks to our foreign policy.

They're overflowing the detention centers because you all refused the funding to hire more judges to clear the cases faster.

How would a wall make the immigration process faster?

It wouldn't.

A wall is pointless, just like you.

So if your concern now is that there's a crisis of people in detention centers, then pass funding to hire more judges, not build a stupid wall.

So why even waste $1 on it? Because Conservatives need it for their egos. They need a wall at this point because if they don't get one, they have to admit they got conned. So now we have to have a wall just so Conservative snowflakes don't have to eat shit.

Illegal immigration isn't a crisis, and it isn't a crisis that is even happening along the southern border.

The "immigration crisis" is in all the visas people like Trump use to bring foreigners into the country instead of hiring Americans. Then those foreigners overstay those visas. That's the "crisis" (if you even want to call it that).

So sounds to me like we should put some kind of accountability mechanism in the visa program that holds the employer liable for those who overstay their visas.
