ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

A national human rights organization has scheduled a Tuesday morning news conference after video was released showing Atlanta gang members attacking a man they believed was gay.

New Order representatives will speak out against the beating at 10:30 at the corner of McDaniel and Delevan Streets, where the attack took place.

CBS Atlanta News obtained disturbing video uploaded on the Internet that shows three guys, who say in the video they are members of the Jack Gang, violently attack the man.

The video shows the gang members waiting outside a grocery store on the corner in Atlanta's Pittsburgh community.

When the victim walked out of the store, they ambushed him. While they were punching and kicking him, they yelled derogatory gay slurs at him.

Devin Ward saw the video. Ward is part of Atlanta's LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bi Transgender) community.

Well shucks, I wonder why the mainstream media isn't covering this.

I'm sure this conference will do a lot for future victims of hate crimes. Gangsters tend to be really big into academic matters, and will be largely convinced by this sociological experiment.

simply yelling racial or gay slurs at someone while you stomp and kick their head in does not constitute a hate crime, remember?

mostly true, however, i think in a case like this, it could serve to shame the people and possibly shame future perps when they remember the public outrage.

This will never make the national news, now if it had been 3 white guys beating on a gay black male, it would have been on every news channel accross the country.

They're not really stopped with bullets either. I mean as a social environment. Obviously gang members themselves are stopped by bullets.
